If Emery wanted Chiesa I'd back him, but I'm not a sports scientist and I have no idea if he can get back to his best. I predict Fiorentina on loan for him.

As for that Omorodion rumour, must say I don't believe it for a second. Looks a lot like just taking this whole Villa, Gallagher, Atletico, Felix, Chelsea, Omorodion thing and linking the last chain.

I don't have an opinion on us signing Sterling or not, but I would find it funny if most of the players they clear out ended up at Champions League clubs.

When you look at first team barring onana and  maatsen its not much stronger at all than last year.

Illing jr being loaned out. Barkley and enzo are backup players. JPB is also a rotation player.

This does concern me tbh i know we have JJ and buendia who we didnt have last year but i still am abit concerned we havent actually strengthed from last year esp when you see how competitive it will be this year in the league and how tough the CL will be.

But last year we had no “ rotation” players….

Really hope we don't sign Sterling. Too much baggage comes with him and could massively affect the balance in the dressing room.

Trouble (and the media) follow him - We don't need him as a player, or any of the shite that comes with 'Project Sterling'.

Quote from:  Villa Report
🚨 Atlético & Aston Villa are in negotiations for the signing of Samu Omorodion. @eldesmarque #avfc
Failed medical at Chelsea but now comes to us I don’t think he failed any medical just didn’t fancy going to Chelsea! Excellent news as he added to the Spain conversation after losing Moreno!
He’s 6’4 and has been described by The Athletic as a "modern No 9" who is a "tall, quick, and physically imposing" centre-forward. He uses his sizeable frame to hold play up effectively and involve others. He has the pace, movement and anticipation to run in behind, he can dribble and create, and he can finish with both feet as well as his head

He didn't fail a medical. Chelsea wanted 50% of his image rights so he told them to fuck off.

If Duran is off, then he would be ideal replacement to bring in.

He might be ideal to bring in anyway, depending on the price.

Not only would he be an extra body for up front, at 6'4", he would offer a different option up front to both Watkins & Duran.

It all depends on the price.

I'm not sure where the trouble side of it comes in. I dont recall him being an arse.

The players with us already are likely to improve further. Rogers for one, a fully fit Ramsey will be miles better than anything we tried on the left last season. Torres, had a tough end to last season but should be better for the experience. Mings and Buendia, again if fully fit, should be far better than their replacements in the squad last year.

There was definitely some PSR jiggery pokery with some of our signings, Dobbin was blatant enough but Illing Jr is surprising. But regardless of the number of games, squads can't be too big.

He clearly made a mistake on Sunday but I don’t think he has lots of baggage. He’s 29 played 500+ games and scored 170 goals. Loads of champions league experience and you can’t question his work rate and commitment on the pitch. I think he’d make a bigger impact for us than Diaby did last season but it may be moot given the finances might be beyond us anyway.

Stirling on loan, maybe, a late deal with Chelsea paying half his wages. But I can't us signing him permanently.

From the sounds of it he was told rather late that he wasn't wanted and could clear off. Releasing a statement seemed weird when it looked like he was just out of the match day squad, but being told you're basically fired, in that manner, I can kind of understand the ill-judged response.

It's also done it's job in that the whole world knows Sterling is available and he's being linked with teams like Villa. So, well done Sterling's People in that regard.

Yeah, seems to be a complete fiction based on him releasing a statement a day after if he found out he had been arbitrarily excluded from the squad.

Give me a player who is angry about not playing ahead of anyone who is content to sit on the bench (or at home) counting their wages.

He's been a model pro pretty much everywhere so far as I know.

If him going in a strop with Chelsea means we can get him more easily/cheaply, all the better.

I changed my mind on Sterling after watching him live at VP one time, I realised just what a powerful player he is
I did the same with Declan Rice when he came with West Ham and was absolute quality that day

I very much doubt we will sign Sterling though or are even interested in him

He's 30 in December, and for a winger where pace is important, I personally think we should be shopping in a younger market (*though I think there are areas of the pitch in need of much more attention). Based off his reasoning for leaving Man City, is he really going to enjoy sitting on our bench when he's displaced by the younger, (*and better) Jacob Ramsey and/or Morgan Rogers?

Out for 70 days through injury over last two seasons too... If Purslow and Gerrard were still at the helm, he'd be at Villa Park already. Thankfully, they're not.

EDIT - And it also helps Chelsea out of a pickle if we take him off their hands. Fuck Chelsea!

I have never been Sterling's biggest fan but calling him shit just seems ridiculous to me. Just look at how many appearances he has made at an elite level, club and country. He's not worth 300k now, mind, but he's not shit.

Duran did the "I'm staying" goal celebration Saturday so i'd say he's definitely off
