I do wonder what we would have done differently without the PSR in place . Would we still be after Felix with his ridiculous wages ? .
The transfer market would look a lot different as there are so many clubs that have hit their PSR ceiling.
We don’t really know to what extent we pursued him, a lot less than the reports is my guess.

🚨 Aston Villa are still trying to sign Lutsharel Geertruida but are yet to reach an agreement with Feyenoord — they want €35m.

I think he has only 12 months left on his contract, so they won't want to see him leave for nothing. If we hold our nerve we might get some bargains. After all Monchi is an expert negotiator.

In years gone by clubs would just pay the premium to get the player, with PSR every million counts.

The trouble is, even if Ollie stays fit for the 4th straight season, we can't expect him to potentially play 50 odd matches again. He'd completely run out of steam at the end of last season. We need another attacker.

Surely that'll either be Duran or his replacement.

The problem is, that aside from Duran being a total arse, he has been bloody awful every time he has started for us. I think he is terribly overrated by some and I really hope we got shot of him asap to allow us to bring a better replacement in. If we finish the window with Duran as the back up striker then I think we will have problems as Ollie won't be able to play every week.

TBF he’s hardly started enough games to judge and when he’s come on he’s made an impact. Also at 35/40 million he’s obviously extremely highly rated by us.

Interesting

If we get felix and the dutch fella in for carlos and duran/archer id say that would be a excellent close to the window

🔵 Negotiations between Chelsea and Atlético Madrid are still ongoing.

After Omorodion deal off and Gallagher back to London, the two clubs are still trying to find new agreement for Conor.

"João Félix remains part of discussions also with agent Mendes; no breakthrough yet"

His last tweet about Felix.

There could also be a load of bluff about the squad being at capacity... and we can actually bring in one or two more without selling anyone.

I thought the same.

From silence to a pretty strong statement we need to sell. I wonder if the message was intended for clubs asking silly money.

There has to be room for more.. our net spend is currently around £-41m for this summer. We still to improve in multiple areas if we want to compete in UCL.

That's not true. He started the conversation saying Chelsea and Atletico are not communicating anymore about Omorodion. Then continues to say there is a gap between Chelsea and Atletico on what they can offer for Felix. Mendes is in London and active on the deal.

The interview with Vidagny and Monchi was quite interesting.

It seems that FFP was sorted with Luiz moving, but Diaby moved to sort the 80% wage to T/O ratio rule from UEFA. Looks like we are sailing close to the wind on both criteria, and we will have to clear wages before adding to the payroll.

This explains the lull in spending, and the need to sell Duran and Carlos before adding more to the payroll. It also explains why we are focussed on shifting Digne (ahead of the lower paid Moreno), and why we tried so hard to shoft Coutinho off the payroll.

Lets hope something shifts with Duran and Carlos, as that would make for a good window.

Well only if replacements come in. If they left and weren’t replaced we would be very light.
