Madrid refuse to loan him out again. The value I've read we're going to open with is £35m. We still have other more essential shopping to do and ideally sell a few but until that happens I don't expect we'll see any deal struck for Felix.

More essential than adding another attacker? What would that be then?

He's a cherry not the cake isn't he. I'm not totally convinced he's the best option, or that we need him.

Extremely talented forwards aren't 'cherries on top' or 'flair players' or 'luxury players'. They win matches.

I would say a decent, commanding CH in place of Carlos is priority.  We have looked ropey at the back for ages now, and still look dodgy pre-season (I know Konsa is to come back),  We need to stop conceding so many set-piece goals.  And then buy Felix!

As I see it:

Donk, Hause, Moreno/Digne and Duran/Archer out is the priority.

After that Felix or someone similar is probably the gap we'd be wanting to fill.

With there also being a question mark over Carlos I think he'd be the next one we'd look to let go and replace.

Felix I hope is seen as an attacking midfielder, a 10. I think we're in limbo right now. We have a few proper strikers we like the look of but won't go out and buy one whilst Duran is still here. Today we were linked with another, Galatasaray's Baris Alper Yilmaz. What are we going to do with Archer? Carlos is another, we won't replace him unless we sell him first. The Donk looks like he's no longer required but no bids until now.

Our hand may be forced on signing another striker but as Ozz said, Felix feels more like the cherry on the cake.

We might use Archer as one of the homegrown players.

He definitely would be, wouldn't he? He's not replacing Watkins in the team. He wouldn't be coming in to just sub in for Watkins. And we wouldn't be moving to a formation with two strikers.

Therefore...

..we need to shift a few players and buy a striker. Have I mentioned Besiktas' 19-year-old striker, Semih Kılıçsoy? He's the next Aguerro I tell ya! ;)

I thought it was odd he gave the Donk an outing last night, rather than Enzo (unless he has a knock?)

Don’t think Enzo was in the squad last night.

Enzo injured himself on Tuesday, fell off his chair and cracked his head at Bodymoor Heath when Emi Martinez walked in the room.

That's what I mean, why put Donk in the squad over Enzo?

Like you said, he may have been carrying a knock. Besides, Donk has been in every squad so far this pre-season

The Donk didn’t do himself any favours last night.
