There will be games next season where we will need a better centre-half pairing than Konsa & Pau, as they’re useless at defending set pieces, and we won’t be dropping Pau.

There will be games next season where we will be up against left-wingers like Doku, Trossard, Gakpo & Martinelli, maybe even Vinny Jnr, where we will need the best 1v1 defender in the league (or the world according to my FIFA-mad babby) to stop them. That’s not Matty Cash in case you were wonndeing, or indeed blind,

New, good in the air centre-half, Konsa on the right of a back three against the best teams please. Like he was against Man City & Arsenal last season.
Nice work, sir!

Whenever anyone mentions it, I'm waiting for Percy to come in two-footed!

It’s just so ridiculous to ‘never want to see him play there again’ after he played there in BY FAR our best two performances of the season, and absolutely pocketed Vini Jr for England.

Yeah, NEVER AGAIN!

I know it was Sheff Utd, but he'd been absolutely brilliant as an attacking right back before he got injured.

We've got to be pragmatic and understand that top defenders might play in different roles. There will be plenty of games next season where we need a great 1-1 defender at full back to allow us to play a flexible shape against top sides. There will be others where we need 2 attacking b high full backs because the opposition are sitting in. There may be others that we need 2 mountains of centre banks to defend set plays, when Mings and someone like that udinese lad are the way forward. Lots of styles, we need to have the answers.

Mat Maher is reporting that Coutinho looks like he's going on load, rather than agreeing a contract termination*;

*I'm assuming that's what it says, as I'm not paying for this news.  :P

It says he’s going on loan, rather than on load.

:-[ I did wonder what it meant, and whether we had a container shipping out.

I thought this was another Dogtanian dating story.

Best course of action will be 3 at the back with Ty, Konsa and Pau.

To be fair, I'm rarely attracted to footballers. It's the pie-eaters in the crowd who are more my sort. Much to my mate's amusement when we end up squashed up against a big lad in a crowd and he declares that they "don't know the danger".

I am really jealous, you guys have so much "talent" to gape at football matches.

Don't be surprised if we're linked again with João Felix. If Benfica can think he's attainable, no doubt Monchi thinks the same. Strange one, brilliant player but has completely lost his way. Too much too young.

I hope he gets a club soon before becoming just another burden on the welfare state.

He's married with a kid when he could be having fun with...Dogtanian? Maybe if he grows a belly first.   :)

I reckon there would be a decent team of pie eaters you could get out on the pitch. Southall, Bruce, Mickey Quinn, Lee Trundle...

Best course of action will be 3 at the back with Ty, Konsa and Pau.

It struck me the other day that with the players we've brought in, it'd be possible to do a decent version of the flexible 3-4-2-1 that Bayer Leverkusen used this year.

I think we now have the squad to play almost any formation you can think of because loads of our players can cover 2-3 different positions and can play in a few different styles. I'd argue we've got the most adaptable squad in the leagueat this point (if everyone is available).
