He looks exactly the kind of player I expect we will sign.  Raw diamond for Unai to polish

Can't find the clip now but I still remember Barkley not being arsed to press in one match and barely moved as they passed it around him. So lazy. Seems to have bucked his ideas up a bit but I'd still be disappointed if we signed him. Conversely, Unlike most on here I like Gallagher. Not sure he's worth spunking what looks like all of our budget on though.

Conor Gallagher has been the best player on the pitch most times we played Chelsea this season
I know it’s not a good idea to sign players who play well against us alone, but he’s looked pretty good every time I’ve seen him play against any opposition

Good team player, scores goals, creates chances, puts the shift in every game give 100%, box to box
I don’t see the negativity to be honest

Having said that I don’t think we’ve got a cat in hells chance of signing him but I certainly wouldn’t be against it

Aston Villa launching bid for Rapid Bucharest striker Albion Rrahmani

Aston Villa are launching a bid for Rapid Bucharest striker Albion Rrahmani.
iAMsport reports Benfica are also keen and willing to offer for €8m for the 23 year-old.
However, Villa are prepared to outbid Benfica by offering €11m for the striker.

Kosovo international Rrahmani has scored 14 goals in 16 games for Rapid this season.

I for one will findit hard to sing Albion

His surname screams Bad Romance by Lady Gaga to me. Rah-rah-Rrahmani.....

Could be interesting having a Serbian and a Kosovar playing together.

Although we would have an oven ready song if he’s no good.

Gallagher?  Hmm, not sure.  He’d be replacing one of our current midfielders, so I’d ask if he’d be a step up from Luiz (no), McGinn (no), Tielemans (not sure), Ramsay (not sure).  Kamara is too specialist to figure.

He'd be another option. And a good one at that. Knows the league etc so no physical changes needed just an adjustment in tactical thinking.

If we were to spend £50M on Gallagher or any other midfielder then surely we would have to sell a “biggy”.  Someone like Soler at a reported £17M would be more realistic.

Again, nobody is saying we would spend 50mil on Gallagher, it's being talked about as some kind of swap involving Durán. I think most people are even thinking straight swap, no cash involved at all. So not really a realistic deal, just throwing ideas around.

Shouldn't be an issue, we've had English and Irish players in the same team.

I like the Lady Gaga suggestion, I thought we might go for "Ooh, ah, up the Rrah-mani, I said ooh, ah, up the Rrah-mani!"

The way Unai is talking, he wants to keep Duran and work with him. I can't see a swap deal happening.

Depends on an individual's personal politics, I suppose, but the Serbia/Kosovo conflict is still a hot issue, whereas we've been independent for over 100 years and nobody really wants Northern Ireland these days.

Ooh, ah, up the Rrah could work. Leave a big enough gap between Rrah and mani and it could actually be quite funny.

No, it'd be tedious not to mention triggering for many. A certain bombing in Birmingham isn't easily forgotten, strangely enough...

As for Irish and English players playing together while the Troubles were going on; the average player was either too thick, disinterested or unaffected to hold grudges.

I thought it was fairly obvious we were joking about the song.

So did I, ditto with my English and Irish playing together comment.

The 'Bad Romance' suggestion was good though.
