This is obviously a weaker Ajax side, but Villa were thoroughly professional and overall deserved the win without really stepping out of second gear. It's thrilling to be able to say we're into the quarter finals of this European trophy.

I was happy for Diaby - best game for a while now and when his confidence is back, he will be deadly.

Martinez just makes it look easy all the time. That take at Brobbery's feet later on was something else. I can't believe he plays for us.

Really comfortable night in the end. Fingers crossed Ollie is OK. So exciting to be in a cup draw at the business end of a competition.

If Ajax were in the Premier League they would be in a relegation fight.
We won easily like we should. The concern is we look tired and we are running out of options, I hope Ramsey and Watkins are available for Sunday .

Comfortable win and a good night out

But the guy who does the team announcement before the game - can he please not call Pau Torres - Pau Wow Torres, and the goal machine Ollie Watkins

Just say their names!!!!

Yeah, that 'Goal machine Ollie Watkins'  nonsense was a bit cringy.

Sat in the Trinity for the first time in years. It was good to see the game from a different view. The concourse of the Trinity is starting to look a bit dated now sadly. Enjoyed the change though.

We were laughing at the wow bit, too. Maybe someone's told him he needs to spice up his delivery lately, as he has been trying to be more energetic lately.

Yeah, very cringey.... Don't mind the yippee-aye-aaaaaaaay bit he does at the end, but the darts-like player name callouts need to be killed with fire.

I can see a certain someone putting pressure on him to create more of an atmosphere if he wants to keep doing it...

Apparently the Man City announcer does the Yipee Aye aaaaay bit as well.

I know I'm a miserable bastard but the team announcement was unbelievably cringeworthy. And the yippee aye aay thing made me want to claw my own eyeballs out. Just tell us the bloody team in a mildly enthusiastic voice and shut the fuck up.

To counter the guy on the mic miserableness, I quite like it and I am a middle aged grump. They missed a good opportunity last night after Hi Ho silver lining and before th teams came out to just let the crowd build the atmosphere. Everyone was in their seat you could hear the Holte starting to find its voice but the fucking speakers were blasting out the Chemical Brothers and you couldn’t hear yourself think. They really need an events company to start having a more serious think about how they do this.

PAU WOW TORRES.

I thought the music before our games could be loud until I experienced that shi*e at Ajax last week.
