"..for a team that have been behind for so long Villa's play is still orderly and composed"

(Cue Thor's hammer)

RIP Chris.

Sad news. Am I right to think he was suffering from dementia?

A real shame. A major part of my Villa youth.

I was in the crowd almost directly behind him when he scored at Old Trafford. Still makes me smile everytime I think about it.

Also scored all four goals in a 2-2 away at Leicester.  Not many have done that.

A wholehearted, dependable player who could always be relied upon for a few goals a  season.  I was mooching around Villa Park the day he signed for us and was at OT for 'that goal'.  Never to be forgotten.  RIP Big Man.

On league cup final day too. His most memorable moment with us. After two replays of course but you know what I mean.

That's sad news.  Chris was an absolute rock and a leader in the teams that gained promotion from the old third and then second divisions, and won two league cups.  I was there at the game at Filbert Street when he scored all four goals, but of course the crowning glory of his time at Villa was that goal - glorious in its execution, and made all the more memorable by the occasion, the importance of the goal so late in the game following incessant pressure on the Everton goal, and for the explosion of noise that erupted on the ball nestling in the net.  RIP Chris Nicholl, and thank you for everything.

That's very sad news. I was in the Holte Suite a few years back and he was sitting on a long table with a few other old un's for a book signing I think so I took a photo and he clocked me and pulled a funny face. It was great. Lovely chap as well on the occasions I spoke to him. RiP
