Really like how Tielemans nearly always passes forward. Always looking for the through ball.

Bailey has really turned into a consistent threat.

Still buzzing after yesterday. It was my 8 y.o. boy's first game at Villa. There was 5 of us all over from Ireland, me and my buddy from Cork with his 13 y.o. daughter and my eldest lad (13) with us too. Tom (8) pronounced his love for Emi Martinez before the game and managed to get a glove off him leaving the pitch! He's still grinning from ear to ear. Imagine getting a souvenir of your first visit to VP from the World's no.1 keeper! The Irish contingent was massive yesterday - big Irish heads and broad accents everywhere! B'Ham Intl was a sea of Claret + Blue! UTV!

Love that!!!  Well done Mossie

I thought Tielemans was excellent and his press made the 4th and decisive goal. Some of our play at times simply outstanding
I do wonder if our midfield now with Luiz and Mcginn in the middle and Tielemans in the offensive McGinn role is less or more effective than Kamara and Luiz in the middle and McGinn more offensive and Tielemans on the bench.

Depends who we are playing. Forest allowed us loads of space to play. We won’t always get that.

Yes, I suspect we'll discover just how much we miss Kamara when we play the three teams above us.

Exactly, post match comments about Tielemans after the defeats to Chelsea and Newcastle weren't exactly positive. If we dominate possession he can be very effective but without it he's a liability. To give him credit he was involved in the turnover that led to Bailey's goal. These are the games he needs to make an impression on, Luton away he needs to deliver again.

I'd give McGinn huge credit in showing his versatility yet again this season. Ramsey coming back to form is another bonus.

Still a bit rough around the edges compared to our early season form, but a huge improvement, and you can forgive the goals conceded seeing as we finished the match with possibly our last choice CB pairing (*though I thought BOTH played remarkably well yesterday).

With that solid core in defence/defensive midfield missing, I worry what will happen when we come up against the likes of City and Arsenal next time around, but I think we just need to go all out to win all the other games and that should see us through - Spurs in a couple of weeks is massive now. Win that and I can't see either them or United catching us.

Teilemans best game for, added some physicality into his game.

Ramsey is about 85% atm. Needs to get his goalscoring form sorted. It will come!

Luiz is on 9 goals now for this season, Bailey is on 8. Quite possible we end up with 3 players in double figures this season. McGinn is even on 6!

It's exactly what was said we needed when people were questioning if Watkins was good enough to lead the team. Last season Luiz finished on 6, and there was a handful of goals from other players. This season everyone bar Lenglet has scored a goal in one competition or another. (He had one ruled out and was inches from scoring Luiz's second one yesterday)

We've already got 5 more goals than we had for the entirety of last season.

Agreed, JJ does seem to be getting up to speed.

90% agree about Chambers and Lenglet. They did really, really well all considered, but were awful in the first 5/10 minutes of the second half as they  were getting to grips with the situation. After that, can’t fault them.

Yes, his shooting is still a bit ropey, if anything he's trying too hard. It'll come.

Few ocassions when JJ was able to turn centrally into space, largely because of the good positional movement and passing from Torres, McGinn and Dougie, and he was able to pick up a gallop. He's starting to flicker back into that devastating ball carrier that he can be.

If he can be hitting form now, then we'll be much more likely to get the ~6 wins from the last 12 we need. Man United will.need to win 3 more games than us, so if we hit the bare minimum of 6, they need 9.

The first 30 minutes yesterday, we’re up there with the Brighton and West Ham games, in that we simply tore a team not as good as us apart.

The first goal for them was soft, but even then i wasn't concerned. I do think losing Torres did wobble us though and I don’t think the second goal or the chances for Elanga and Yates, happen if he’s on the pitch.

I found myself comparing what Chambers was doing with what Pau would have done, especially with a couple of long aimless balls he played. Its probably an unfair comparison. MOTD were raving about John Stones, he’s a top player, but Torres is better. Chambers seems a good lad and ended up getting through the second half, but it does feel like getting through is exactly what we’ll be doing defensively if we have to stick with the Chambers Lenglet partnership for a few games. Luton test everyone at Kenilworth Road and I really don't fancy that centre back pairing against Son etc in a couple of weeks.

Other than that, McGinn was outstanding, Luiz largely very good, Ramsey had a great first half but faded in the second, but he’s nearly there.
And then there’s Bailey. All my favourite Villa sides have had a brilliant winger, the early 80s with Morley then Walters, Daley in Taylors nearly champions in 89-90 and again in Rons 92-93 team and Little’s 95-96 team, Young in the O’Neil years. Bailey is so exciting to watch, the anticipation in the crowd when he gets the ball, its electric. His style is also interesting, he constantly looks like he’s about to fall over, but somehow shifts he’s body round. A joy to watch.

When you’ve got a stand in defence you need your midfield and forwards to to the business so they overcome that weakness like we did yesterday
Don’t forget we were playing a relegation threatened team who aren’t that great but still managed to score twice past us,  but because we were so dominant in other areas it didn’t matter

Hopefully be the same next week away at Luton

Yea agree. Luton like Forest are also down there for a reason but they do seem to give everyone a game at their place. I hope Torres is back for that one.
