Agree re Torres , he isn't a great defender . Disagree re Konsa at RB really don't want to see him playing there anymore . The defence is our Achilles heel.

Poor result but not too overly concerned about it.

I sense that a lot of mattresses are going to need cleaning today.

How true...when Martinez, Konsa, McGinn, Tielemans, Ramsey and Watkins are back playing the beds may start to dry.

Realise I’m contradicting myself but I also don’t like him there. I just don’t think he & Torres complement each other that well and he’s too good not to play!

Just watched a 2 min showreel of Onana’s involvement last night.
Feck me, the bloke is even more huge in a Villa shirt…..he’s fucking mahoosive, and decent, in those highlights.

Seems like it shows.
Colombos have played twenty odd matches and in their season while Villa are in pre season.
Performance wise is the most interesting aspect.
Fitness the most important.
And even though I unable to see other than brief goal highlights it's great that Buendia afforded some minutes.
Rodgers stands out in the highlights and not just because of his hair!
Excellent by Archer , I think this pre season tour has an opportunity to stake a claim for squad inclusion for the season
Feeney looks too raw and possible he just being a fattened calf who will be eventually sold on.

I don’t think these games are anything other than getting players fit. The results are almost irrelevant.

A poor showing but not completely unexpected at this stage of the season. The defence were garbage. Bailey and Rogers tried.
Best bit was my daughter getting autographs from almost the entire squad and SUE before the game.
The game against RB Leipzig can't be any worse surely?
Fantastic to hear you and daughter met the squad ! Be a great momento.
Up the Villa!!

There is absolutely a concern around the number of new players we need to try and integrate, that’s valid. But it’s a friendly, I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions.

I’m not too worried about integration as the spine will remain - Martinez, Konsa, Torres, Kamara/Tielemans, McGinn, Watkins.

Only one of whom has been on tonight.

We are still relying on the spine Deano put together. Is Nakamba back from injury yet?

I watched the whole game and thought Columba naturally looked sharper than us, which is to be expected.  Rogers, Onana stood out.  I know it's pre-season and we'll get Ollie back but I thought we  really lacked up top, although Archer took his goal well, but could have a couple of others.  Columbus were a good, high pressing side and I am sure our players are knackered from double training sessions and having so many new players to bed in.  Things will settle down.  I'm interested in seeing the development of people like Barrenechea.

Just one more thing......the new kit looked superb.

I guess getting some minutes played for various people is the most important thing at this stage still, so need to chuck the baby out with the bath water. Torres really does concern me though. For all his ability on the ball, the defensive side of his game is a bit limited, and he really needs to step it up a bit.

I think Torres could be better in a three or even as a left back - balance by an attacking right back. Pretty much opposite to what we do with Konsa.
