Apparently admitted to hospital yesterday for chest pains/suspected heart trouble. Apparently had a stent put in and he says he'll be fine in a day or two.  Good luck to him. Typically the newspapers refer to him as former Man Utd and Chelsea keeper. No mention of us.

179 appearances for us. 26 for Man U and 5 for Chelsea.

Great keeper and a big (if occasionally flawed) character. Saw him debut for us at Luton, where you almost feel you are between the sticks with the keeper.
Get well soon.

He will be fine. Lucky man to have a chance of getting it sorted.

Sunderland away in the League Cup is still the best goalkeeping performance I've ever seen.

At Chelsea he played about 5 games, was massively overweight and they sacked him for a failed drug test so think given Chelsea's worldwide prominence now they just put that in for clickbait.

Wish him well. Made plenty of mistakes in his life but was a top class keeper for us and had the same aura that Emi does now.

Enjoy:

He'd be terrible in the modern game now with the playmaker skills expected of pretty much every single top level keeper but what a presence and shot stopper in his prime.

It was ridiculous. Still not sure how they managed to put one past him that night.

Cheers SHQ! He was unlucky that the pass back rule came in during his career. Obviously all keepers since then have grown up having to be able to play the ball with their feet from day one. He had a foot like a fifty pence piece though.

He was great for us, a brilliant shot stopper. That new rule ruined him at Man Utd. Maybe for once we let someone go at the right time? Not that I thought that at the time, especially to that lot. I was probably still sobbing over Yorke.
