From your League , Cup and Europe prediction posts.
I see Chicago Lion, Axl Rose , Dartagnan, MplsVilla, ChrisW1, Skerra DaveP, Eamonn, Aldridgeboy, Somniloquism, VillaTim,Sid1964 N'Mav have all forecasted Villa to go out to Chelsea.
Is there any particular reason why don't expect Villa to progress?

For me it felt like we were a bit in the doldrums and were in a pretty poor run of form.  Chelsea had seemed to pick up their form, but have since lost to Liverpool and Wolves.  A week is a long time in football.

After the Newcastle result I was worried the clouds were gathering, then we beat the blades and the sun came out only for it to have pissed down with rain of the Konsa injury.

This is all fair enough on forecasting.
I think this also reminds us plenty of twists and turns for the top placings in the league.

think i voted straight after the NUFC game . I think we will win Weds as Chelsea are dire but not sure about Sunday without Konsa/Torres that ManUre attack is too fast for DC/LL

Not keen on a prediction after expecting us to batter Newcastle.
I would put Kamara in centre of defence alongside Carlos. He would add pace and passing skills.Put Tim as CM and if it goes wrong ,I'd blame Cash.

My prediction was based on Chelsea being odious, cheating twats.

I fully expect them to still be odious, cheating twats and to scrape through.

Would love us to pummel them into submission of course.

Honest question - If a trip to Wembley to watch your team's captain climb those steps and lift a domestic trophy competed for by 729 other British clubs doesn't float your boat, what's the point?
Aston Villa football club should be making regular trips to Wembley in cup competitions. That's the way to win trophies. I am not ashamed by our thrashing in 2015 final however I am ashamed by the fact that we did not go past the 3rd round for many a season until now.

We should be but a cup run or even final appearance can mask a lot. The last two Villa sides to get to cup finals barely scraped past relegation. Having a team consistently finishing high in the league and going deep into a Euro competition is probably the priority over domestic cups.

In saying all that I hope we smash Chelsea tomorrow night, we will go forward to the weekend full of confidence if that happens.

As I am one of the one's who think we may lose tonight, the reasons are having been at both the Chelsea and Newcastle games

We got lucky against Chelsea, and without Martinez, we would have been out of the cup (I did hear that Chelsea fans reckon that was the best they had played this season) and then a really poor performance against a good Newcastle side, we just seemed to be on the slide, both in terms of performance and the confidence within the side.

I hope I am wrong and that we win both of our next 2 games.

I think the silly buildup stuff they are doing now negatively affects the atmosphere. It wasn't as raucous as I thought it would have been against Newcastle from the off, and I think the stupidly loud music and the silly lightshow thing just gets in the way.

Emery confirmed yesterday loud and clear that the league is priority. Doesn't mean we won't give it a good go tonight but in terms of priority Sunday is way bigger.
