Started using the Silhill brewery tap house as an alternative and I dont think we'll be going back, as the beer is good and I can get served without losing the will to live.

Many years ago i saw a fantastic Clash tribute act (called Take the Fifth) upstairs in a small function room.

They had great beers then and a bizarre meeting of older men with what looked like a load of Thai brides?

Not that surprising given it used to serve Thai food.

It is mate, it's only a bit further to walk than the Barton's, the parking is easy and you can nip out on a slip road avoiding the A34, straight upto the pump island and onto the expressway.

The prospect of Sky and Music is unedifying in such a beautiful pub but the owners need to make a success of it in order for it to remain open so you can't really blame them.

The music will certainly drown out the sound of beard stroking and talk of real ale so that's ok by me.

Didn't really notice the music on Saturday. Maybe you hear it more in the restauranty posh bit.
I was sitting in the Bar area, I could hear it but it wasnt too loud. Must have been pretty close to you.

Before or after? I was only there after, I was the one that looked like someone had tried to drown him.

I was sitting in the Bar area,
I think I may have seen you when I momentarily opened the screen to glance down at the public area.
