Man city might get some of the 20 % we owe Middlesbrough on a sale. But there won’t be anything between us and Man city. So it will be all about whether we can inflate his fee to reflect what we want NET.

Alternatively, we can convince him to stay

^^ I think that probably refers to what Boro had to give to Man City out of the £8m + £7m.

Yep, but the 25% sell on would be based on the total Boro received from Villa. If that total goes up, because Boro get a sell-on fee from Villa if we sell Rogers, then they would be entitled to 25% of the additional profit that Boro make.

Not necessarily. It could just be that Man City negotiated a 25% sell-on clause with Boro, which Boro paid when they sold him.

Any fee for him would have to be well North of £100M I'd have thought, judging by what certain players were going for last summer?
I will be livid if we sell him tbh..

It will depend if there is a release clause. If he goes and how much. Not seen anything definitive either way.

After the Grealish saga with his release clause being common knowledge at C115y, surely we wouldn't be so stupid to have it written into another player's contract.  Surely?

Depends on the negotiating power of the agent when he got his new contract.

Stupid doesn't come into it.

We want him to sign a new contract because we are worried about the depreciating value of our asset, he is able to dictate the conditions under which he'll agree to do so.

That doesn't mean there is one, but if there is then it presumably means that it was a condition of him agreeing to sign. It won't have been the club that suggested it, if there is.

Same here. Arsenal going on about how much money they've made this season, breaking all records and their fans seriously discussing buying Rogers for £80m. If that's all they think he's worth they should do one. I'd be looking at numbers above £120m. Rogers had a mixed season but you can tell there's just so much to come. Said elsewhere, I expect him to have a brilliant new season..for Villa.

So I check into the Morgan Rogers update thread and get three pages on disgusting licorice, smelly farts and other assorted unpalatable food. Anyone know what's happening with Morgan?

I haven't tried any of the liquorice liqueurs mentioned, but Captain Morgan's spiced rum is pretty rank.
Surprised.  I think Morgan's Spiced is alright at the price point.  I mean, I'd rather spend an extra £6 on a bottle of Havana club 7, but Morgan's Spiced doesn't particularly offend me given it's cheap as chips.

Yeah, I can't see Man City being due anything now - they've had their cut from the (I'd guess) £15m we paid Boro.

I see BBC are now talking about Rogers being on Arsenal’s shortlist. Although basically implying Rogers and Kroupi are valued at the same sort of level - which I would hope in reality is just nonsense.

Not necessarily. It could just be that Man City negotiated a 25% sell-on clause with Boro, which Boro paid when they sold him.

It will obviously depend on how the contract was constructed, but in the world of transfer fee add-ons, it would make perfect sense for Man City to have sold him to Boro on the understanding they'll get x% of any monies received for Rogers "in perpetuity".  Otherwise, clubs would be heavily incentivised to change deals to base them on longer-term add-ons rather than "up-front" fees.
