He has looked heavy legged the last couple of games.
This is after a decent break as well.

He looked heavy legged at the start of the season too. I’m sure fatigue is in there, but I suspect a dip in confidence is a big influence. He still set up our goal on Saturday.

Yes but I would like to know meters per minute  stays? He has played more minutes than anyone else.

No he hasn't he's 13th on that list, with the top 8 all having played every minute of their 32 games, 6 of them are keepers though but Milenkovic and Van Dijk top the list for outfield players and Garner, Bowen, Anderson and Truffert are all ahead of Rogers. Mitchell will probably go ahead of him next week as well when Palace play City to fill out their missing game.

It's a bit of both I think. When the confidence is there he appears a little less bothered by the tired legs but the mental fatigue is causing more mistakes which hurts his confidence. He could really do with a break but that's not happening this summer, which is why I'm firmly in the 'too many games' camp.

That’s my hypothesis: he will not recover from the inevitable pile on following a £100m move and his loss of confidence.  He should stay at Villa and enjoy the normal ups and downs below the media’s radar.

I don't think our compliance people would agree.

Think he’s alright. That goal and his role in it was fabulous.

Shit penalty but fair play for recovering.

I don't know. With the taps or downright misses we have done recently, I thought the keeper did well to get across so fast for the save as Morgan struck it well.

It doesn't crack the top ten worst penalties we've taken in the last few years, but I'm still a firm believer that someone as good as kicking a football where he wants it to go as Rogers is, particularly against this goalkeeper, he should be popping that in the net without a second thought.

He hasn't been that good at cracking them passed the keepers recently in open play. Probably why McGinn gave him the ball to "boost his confidence". Bad decision from the captain though.

Morgan Rogers is the first player to have four shots and create three chances in the first half of a Europa League game this season.

I think he was maybe always taking it? But SJM was doing that to take any grief that would come off the Bologna players.

Ashley Young did it fabulously a couple of seasons ago for us before chucking the ball to whoever took it

He definitely needed that goal tonight; should set him up for the business end of the season.
