I'd expect an upturn in his performances as we approach the WC...it's in his best interests to be in form for that, after all.

Let’s hope he has a great World Cup (assuming there will be a World Cup). We could then get maximum money for him. Not that I particularly want to off load him but assuming £90 million + comes our way it might allow us to get 3 quality players because as we’ve witnessed, taking the likes of Kamara, McGinn and Tielemans out of our squad reduces our quality drastically. And, like Rudy, I’m totally pissed off with him giving the ball away for reasons that I can’t fathom.

Imagine if Rogers had had a fit Ramsey and Elliott in the team, alongside him: he'd be flying still, and Watkins might have regained his form as well. Both Ramsey and Elliott know how to look after the ball in a way that we are simply not doing well enough at the moment, and we could have ridden out the loss of Tielemans, SJM and Kamara with these two playing well.
We massively screwed up with the reliance on Guessand and Sancho - and spent inordinately on these two, too - and bringing Bailey back into the matchday squad has further weakened the whole structure.

I realise that this is all hindsightism and speculation, but it's massively annoying to see the self-harm of last summer being played out.
Agreed. Since we lost most of our midfield, coupled with Watkins's declining form, I do wonder if he is just trying to do too much on his own or conjure up some dazzling play.
He also could be subconsciously mistrustful of others, which results in him not releasing the ball in a timely manner or just running into trouble.

This season is following the route of last.
Brilliant upto Christmas with a massive dropoff just after. He did eventually came good again towards the end of the season.

The biggest issue for me is that his is not a general drop in standards. There is no middle ground. When he is off it, he is monumentally shit.

Hopefully with Mcginn back and Tielemans on the horizon, he can play his way back into form.

Even in games where he produces bits of magic, his overall performances can be quite poor.  He is not alone in it, but he gives the ball away too often and too easily and his body language can be quite poor at times to boot.

All that said, I do think his best position is in the left where he can cut in.  Think he struggles a bit in the number 10 role as he gets crowded and don't think he works at all on the right as it takes away his main strength of cutting back in on his stringer side.

Rogers has to play inside left, or 10. Not right wing.

He played on the left v Chelsea and didn't try a leg without the ball. He's Emery's boy and a very talented player. But that's created a bit of a problem similar to maybe Jack & Deano.

He's our only real match winner though. Just needs some form.

He’s the one I’m least worried about. He had a ropey start to the season and then came back with superb form. He will do it again, his ceiling is evidently very high and is one of few players in our squad who is definitely on the up - even if he’s going through a blip.

He should play every game, of everyone he’s the one where it’s entirely sensible to try and play back into form.

Page three. Crazy.

Looked like he was in his own head to me tonight. Could do with him snapping out of it as we have plans to finish in the CL spots and win the Europa League for good measure. He's key to that.

Was hoping the extended break would have done him good but evidently not. Any other player would be dropped for Forest.

Seems we'll need to let him go anyway even if we make  CL for the money, if sundry reports tonight are to be believed   >:(

Fuck PSR, or whatever it's called now.

I think the opposite, he's playing too many games and looks half the player we know he can be. Play back to form is so Slippy Gee. Too late now, we need him but we are so toothless up front, nobody can control a ball for more than a few seconds and Rogers right now is the worst. We know he loves to play every minute manage them extremely carefully until the summer.

What reports?

Edit: Just seen he is the latest England player to be sold to all the big six the same as Anderson was.

He loses possession way too much for my liking and does zero defending. I'd cash in for the rebuild tbh.

Eduard Spertsyan is a RW, LW and AM like Rogers but with actual pace. (He's at the same club PSG bought their keeper from who was excellent against Liverpool yesterday)
