It appears Rogers knows he isn't playing well but isn't hiding and is still looking to get on the ball.

I think he has been hiding in previous games and that's why I saw last night as a big improvement. Yes he was dithering on the ball, which led to him being dispossessed a few times and saw his passing options all closed off at times as well but his movement was better and he was trying to be more involved. He's still well short of what he can bring but it's better.

There's no hiding in Premier League games. He's just out of form.

It's not always the case with him, but I thought his work rate and body language were fine on Thursday night.  He just looked like a player in a bit of a rut of poor form and nothing he tried came off.

I think there might be a reaction from the crowd on Sunday, at least at first, a positive reaction, singing his name etc. hopefully that then leans to a boost in confidence for him.

He’s bound to be feeling the pressure but he’s a professional so should be able to handle it. If the form doesn’t return his England squad place will be in jeopardy and righty so.  It’s up to him now.

I think he looked better on Thursday, I know he missed a lot of passes but I feel like it was like 5% off being spot on.

Yea I get that Bren, but a 23 year old being sarcastically cheered by some of the home support, must have an effect. Being a professional doesn’t surpass human emotions. He might need a bit of lurve from the crowd tomorrow.

once he starts being better at the basics - then he'll get the right reaction.

This sort of comment always surprises me. He can clearly do the basics and much more, we are seeing what a humongous difference confidence makes to an elite level sportsman.

We all want the Villa to do well. If we are to do well, we need a confident, thriving Morgan Rogers. A bit of support from the stands would do him the world of good when he probably wants the world to swallow him up at the moment.

He plays a high risk game, that is his job in the team. When it isn't working then it will always look terrible for that sort of player but we as fans can help him.

stats are showing he's struggling with the basics - but we know he can as he did them very well when we first signed him - not so much lately.

I didn’t ironically cheer him, but that’s mostly because I wasn’t there.

I understand the immense frustration with him, though, and only completing 42% of your passes is abysmal.

Having said that, I think had I been there, I’d have looked at my feet, slowly shaked my head and sighed.
