He needs to play himself back into form. Just make a load of simple passes to get ticking over.

I think Tielemans would have helped enormously tonight.

I never think he isn't trying, he just looks to have totally lost his confidence. Can't really be arsed with the ironic cheers.

You can't be a 10 if you're passing is as bad as his.

But his passing isn’t bad, he’s struggling for form. At least he’s still trying to make the passes. If Malen had finished better he’d have a couple of assists. It’ll come, but it’s not going to be helped by the crowd ironically cheering him.
It is mate. Last season was similar, not as bad but similar and we masked over it because there were these moments of magic as well...right now there isn't any magic. Agree about the crowd, he'll feel like shit but now is the time to shut them up with a series of 8 out of 10's.

If he takes the plaudits then he too must take the criticism in whatever form it comes in. He must know that ironic cheers are a sign that he’s way underperforming. Hopefully he’s got the message.

This.

Ironic cheers are a load of shit. If you're going to do that as a fan when it's clear a player has tried to make important passes that haven't quite come off then just don't come to the games. Save you money instead.

There, I've said it.

Emery on Rogers: "(He was) working for the team, but today he was not being clinical offensively. He needs to take experiences today, not playing every well, the crowd not being happy with him and him getting his experiences and grow up through it.”

Emery on Rogers: "I kept him on the field because I wanted his reaction, how he was accepting everything and he did it. He didn’t play well and didn’t be clinical in attacking third to do the last assist, but I wanted to keep him because, firstly he’s always doing his task."

Noticed on the highlights he didn't seem to go across to congratulate McGinn when he scored. Last season he seemed to be one of the first celebrating goals from other players.

The ironic cheer was awful and a bit embarrassing really. He's not playing well although mind you, didn't Cole Palmer do fuck all in the last 15 odd games of last season?

Agree.
I thought the cheer was a bit embarrassing.
Fair play to him because he's not hiding away from the ball and I reckon he'll improve.

The way to give a player a boost is to do that to him apparently. Kick the bloke while he’s down and then expect him to turn out the next game like it never happened.

Yeah, nonsense behaviour.

He was still on the ground from his in front of goal air swing, probably just disappointed with his attempt.  He's just horribly out of form atm and his confidence has gone.

I hated the ironic cheers, embarrassing from the fans not him. This lad is a top talent and seeing him in the flesh, it is so clear that this dip is down to confidence. Presumably all Villa fans want him to recover that confidence and subsequently his form, so how they think openly taking the piss out of him helps is anyone's guess. Straight down the tunnel at the end and he must feel like absolute cack tonight.

42% pass completion rate.

I don’t get Unai. Stinks the place out for weeks on end, first on the team sheet every time.

It was very loud, and does not augur well.
I didn’t see it as ironic.
I saw it as the crowd giving encouragement to a player who is suffering an awful drop off in form and confidence.
