The trouble is spending the £80m.

Beating a team with ten men, getting anything against Palace and spending large sums of money on decent players: all things Aston Villa cannot do.

Do you think that the rumoured high profile players being told that they might be on their way because of PSR/UEFA could have affected their “loyalty” to the club?

Rogers hasn't been at the races for most of the second half of last season though and was still first name on the team sheet no matter what. People were complaining he wasn't played in his "best" positions even though for his first half a season with us, he was good off the wing. If he has no "loyalty" to a manager who always plays him and turned him into the player that commands an £80mil fee then he can fuck right off.

What’s happening to Rogers? He was awful again. He needs dropping, re-setting and time to think. Play Harvey Elliott in there for a little bit. It’s not working. He was far more effective on the right wing. At least we wasn’t relying on him to be the best player on the pitch back then.

Rogers has had one good year in top flight football and seems to think he has made it.

Drop him

He’s having a dip in form. He’s far from the only one. Maybe there is a wider narrative, but given every single player is struggling it’d be weird if it’s an attitude problem with Rogers but everyone else is all good.

What terrible value for money he's been.

He’s been a brilliant and very shrewd signing, however he’s not at all in form. Personally I’d try him either back on the right or bench him for a game or two.

This is the first time I've ever thought the 'he has better players around him at England' excuse might have credence.

Better players and probably worse opposition.
