Great away trip, we went over via the chunnel back in 2016. Some roadtrip and a great one for history
buffs with the Menin gate nearby.

You seem so desperate to look for downers everywhere. It isn't healthy.

BTW they lost several matches including 6-1 to fc Nordsjælland, 2-0 to Ludograts and 1-0 to Union Saint-Gilloise. And you missed the easy worry that Lille have not lost in Europe this season.

Ypres has a wonderful museum that’s a must if you visit the gate, it's literally 200 yards away from it.

Not trying to jinx or pre-empt things but if we do make it to the final in Athens do you think they will put a big screen up at Villa Park
I mean we haven’t won anything for 28 years so I think there would be a lot of interest and it would also be an extra money spinner for Mr Heck get all glad about

Had the 7 month old granddaughter in my arms singing Villa when the draw was made, proud as punch

7 months? You are happy to inflict this misery that we endure on infants? You evil, evil bastard.

If we were playing against the teams in the Turkish top flight week in week out we probably would have only lost one league game all season as well.

Your first sentence is just wierd not even worth responding to that it seems your trying to get a rea tion which isnt healthy

They lost those games but did they or did they not go through?? Thats what matters. Of you think its going to be a walk in the park it wont be should we meet them there.  Lilles a tough game too. Its going to be abit more challenging having 2nd leg away from home. Would have been great if 2nd leg of semi was at villa park as if we got to final it would be awesome to be celebrating with the players at home. Not a few thousand in turkey/greece

Not sure what this means but fenestration have tweeted this

It's Turkish for 'won't come' which suggests that they are relieved not to be playing us

Am just about old enough to remember we brushed them aside with some comfort the last time we played them competitively

Thanks. Bit wierd why they chosen us!

It’s not weird in the slightest. They rightly see us as the best team left in the competition.

That tweet was sent before the draw was made.

We were still the best team at the start of the draw.

It followed a tweet asking who fans wanted drawn so at a guess they were following up replies stating it won't be Aston Villa. Later, after the draw, they tweeted out we were "too afraid".

In my personal opinion i dont go with the narrative that there is "a favourite" just a group of teams that should win it which includes us. I think that kind of implies that rest of the sides are not good. I mean why are fiorentina not favourites? They have more experience than us in this competition, have a straight forward route to the final and both of their games are home 2nd leg if they get to semis.  They also lost last season in final so they will want to wrong that.

Massive advantage of having 2nd leg at home

Lille is actually quite a bit closer to me than Villa Park.

Also well worth a visit if driving is the Canadian War memorial on Vimy ridge. Very impressive. You can actually just see it from the motorway on the way to Lille. The memorial is adjacent to preserved trenches, and a museum/visitor centre. The guides are Canadian students (apparently a very sought after gap year job) and often descendants of Canadian soldiers killed in action in WW1.
