I think we also need to understand that we are not going to win every game. We are going to get a defeat here and there and have some games where we don't click but as long as we learn and bounce back quickly from it, that's good and also a sign of good mentality.

You know though, 15 home wins on the bounce and a chance to go top of the league today, yeah, so far we're doing ok.

Is Ben Mee fit to play? If so, unleash Matty Cash

Is Ben Mee fit to be called a footballer?

Yeah we are doing okay but we’ve got to keep doing okay

In fairness Clampy and you’re not gonna like this you’ve got a long tradition on here for settling for second best, average has always been good enough for you
If it was up to you, we still be in the championship with Steve Bruce’s manager, and I’m not saying that as a joke I’m saying that in all seriousness
That’s the difference

We’ve moved on now , We are as big a club as anyone outside of Liverpool and Manchester United, and with the manager and structure as it is the demands of far higher

If we lose today, you’ll be on here later saying well look at the league table we doing okay because that’s good enough for you, but if we are to compete with Arsenal, Man City Liverpool and the others for a top 4 position or better we have to be as demanding as possible
Pep, Klopp and Emery have one thing in common they are obsessed with the winning and not just that but constant improvement, doing okay is not good enough for them

That’s where we are and it’s a high pressure environment

At the start of the season I would have taken qualifying for the Europa, either by league position or winning the Conference, as a great achievement this season, a forward step on a longer journey. But after the last 2 league games we find ourselves in an almost unbelievable position and the idea starts to creep in that finishing 5th or 6th would now be a bit of a disaster. And so games like this feel hugely important and if we don't get 3 points it feels like more than just a game lost.

When I find that idea creeping in I do try to take a step back and be sensible, thinking about where we were a little over a year ago, and where we've been for a long time, and try to just enjoy each week, each performance, and each win, which come a lot more frequently than they used to.

But still, must win today! 😄

Like I said, we're not going to win every game sadly. We'll trip up now and again, that just the way it is. We do seem to bounce back very well under Emery which is good.

As for how I come across on here, I'm not overly worried about that or 'couldnt give a rats ass' to put it more bluntly. I'd rather be positive than look for the negatives and at the moment on the field, there's not a lot to be negative about.

Brentford did the double over Man City last season, it wasn't the end of the world for MC. Which proves that the reality is that every team drops points, there's a difference between knowing that will happen at times through the season and being disappointed but not going all Rita Hayworth when it does, to wanting inquests every time it happens, to just shrugging our shoulders in blind acceptance and not being bothered.

Most important thing is how you bounce back from a disappointing result. One of the most impressive things under Unai is we haven't had those lengthy winless runs that have dogged us under pretty much every manager in my time. Our longest is 3 which was that bonkers run including Leicester and Arsenal, and only one other time have we gone 2 league games without a win.

If they had Toney and Mba…the other one available we would have been looking at a heavy defeat if you read some of the comments on here. Whoever plays Villa in the league has a chance but our form suggests we should win this game. Win it will be.

Now I see how you post scores so quickly PWS, by preparing for all scenarios. I take it the above could be the first on post match thread? ;D

Context though. A year ago we just wanted to make sure we didn't get dragged into a relegation battle following the start we made under Gerrard. I don't think anyone would have foreseen that a year on, the media would be including our name in the conversation for the title.
