It would be very Aston Villa to have suddenly garnered TONS of content discussing whether we are title contenders, in both traditional and digital media, only to go on to limp to a piss poor defeat at Brentford.

I'm afraid that is indeed the essence of the Villa curse. Unai might not know what he's up against.

I get a bit nervous when we start getting confident and lots of media attention.
They have their 3 best players out, we have to do the opposite to what we did at Forest.

I feel really confident about this one, that will last till about 1.50pm, when that nagging voice about Villaitis that Ive been suppressing for the last week, starts becoming a foghorn. If anyone has the cure it Unai.

Really don't get the nervousness , if we have any aspirations of top 4 looking at their depleted side we have to win this. we should go into this confident

I'm not expecting them to be particularly dirty or physical. Their fouls and stats just don't indicate that.

What they do well are set pieces, whilst they favour long throws as soon as they're in the attacking third.

So they will probably play a higher percentage of long balls than other teams, but I know the management team will be well prepared.

I'm nervous because it's the Villa and at Brentford, we are traditionally crap.

Traditionally, we would get battered by Citeh and Arsenal too so our traditions are not immutable.

We haven't played consistently well in a single away game yet, even the games we've won. So we really need Emery to get the form up to something approaching the home form, as there's no really good reason for it not being. The results and performances against Wolves, Forest and Bournemouth weren't great, let's not add Brentford to the list of underwhelming teams we've failed to beat away.

Whilst the away form.could be better, I'm sure every team has something it needs to work on. Just looked at the table again and you know what, we're doing ok.

I don't think anybody has said we're not. But if we want to do even better, then the away form needs to improve. Emery has said this himself several times, so take it up with him.

Anyway.....tough game again tomorrow. It's a shame Luiz and Digne are out but a rest will do them god as well. Not sure how to call this one. December was alway going to be taxing but we seem to be doing ok so far half way through.

on that basis i'd probably play the 3 CB's for extra height and maybe Zaniolo aswell for some physicality

Would be the least surprising turn of events in the history of football.
