We will get chances - we need to make sure we take them. Be wasteful and they will beat us.

I would put Konsa directly on the android and go all out attack. I would also put a "reducer" on Foden as he is a real danger

This forum is very positive about tonight, the blue moon forum is very negative, with many of their support feeling a defeat or draw at best coming..he who dares wins Rodders, he who dares wins

This is correct.

COYVB. I want to be as kind and magnanimous in victory as the Citeh-loving Stockport side of my family are to me when they win.

I've seen quite a lot of commentators talking about the next two games telling us more about where we're at as a team (than previous results do).  I get that, but I'm not sure I actually agree with it.  We got beat up at Newcastle results wise and at Liverpool performance wise.  But we're 4th.  If we don't win the game tonight it won't mean we've been 'found out' etc.

I liked Emery's press conference when he talked about the game being just another chance at 3 points, out of the 60-70 odd points that would see us qualify for some kind of European football.  That's the way we need to approach every game from now on.  So called 'statement wins' only get your 3 points and you need to back them up with another 3 points.  There is a long way to go this season and there will be some twists and turns.

It's the first Villa v Man City game I've been mildly looking forward to for a long long time too.

attack them down the right wing. They are vulnerable

Team selection is critical tonight. Think Emery has a real opportunity to start the likes of Ramsey and Moreno and get fresh legs into a team that looked a bit flat last weekend. Konsa at RB is just asking for trouble, he won't be I'm pretty sure. Kamara back in too.

This has the feeling of a statement game for us. We're on the rise, have a settled team and have been great at home all season against a Man City team who look vulnerable defensively and have some key players out.

This will tell us a lot about us and I can't wait for it. We need to get behind the boys and give them the best lift we can.

I genuinely don't know what the score is going to be but I reckon both teams will score at least twice and that it is going to be one hell of a game.

Come on you Villa boys!

I went on their Pravda to see if Pep was wanking lyrical about Unai. All I got was a Memories article with a long piece on a day in the life of David White the Spring evening he hit Villa for 4 and his team 5, at Villa Park in 1991. He does concede that us giving young Andy Comyn* a game at the back de-stabilised us with God having to play further forward in midfield.

I think we're more than capable of beating anyone at home, even Man City at full strength. The fact they're missing key players is a plus for us, as is the fact they're more likely to try and play against us, rather than sitting back trying to defend. We saw how that went for Brighton.

I have no idea what the actual result will be but as others have said it's the first time in a long time I'm looking forward to this fixture, and the outcome isn't a forgone conclusion.

I can't remember either, but I think that you and I possibly weren't that complimentary about Mr O'Neill.

It's quite possible, I seem to recall a season opener against Wigan when we were 1-0 down at half-time. You posted something like "MON, you c*nt" (possibly with a "F*ck off" before it). :)

To be honest I was at that game and we were absolutely fucking useless, lost 2-0, lookeds like we’d been introduced in the car park beforehand and were an utter shambles, the very antithesis of the club motto Prepared and I was giving MON a very gratuitous round of fucks as well.

I was following it online, and I don't recall the aftermath. I think the comment stuck with me because it was only 45 mins into the new season, and we were only a goal down.

I hope the weather's better in Brum than here or it won't be pleasant at the game. Teeming rain with an east wind that would cut you in two.
