I presume their fans who had tickets were mightly pissed off at not getting in so who knows, in the long run it might change the mindset  of a few of their fans who normally tolerate the Ultra/Pet Shop Boys mob who follow them. Even their club might wise up a little as well.

From what Legia are saying, I doubt it. Their club officials seem afraid to do anything about the problem.

It's a nice thought, but if you're prepared to lob a glass bottle into a crowd of people with no regard to the possible consequences, then I don't imagine the feelings of decent fans are going to be taken into consideration by those cretins.

Nothing will change for their fans if the club are not willing to condemn the violence and also blame it on us for reducing the capacity - which was also in part to their involvement in previous violence.

Can only imagine the club are scared of the ultras, or that they have strong links to the club hierarchy

It does feel like we've set a precedent here.  Either this will be widely criticised across the board, including by UEFA, or travelling away fans better get used to the prospect of not actually seeing games, tickets or not.

What I don’t get is the club saying they limited away tickets because they could not get Legia to co-operate concerning their fans turning up without tickets.
What the hell were Legia supposed to do?

In the days leading up to the game Legia made provocative statements saying how hard they’d tried to get extra tickets and how unreasonable we were being.
If we had been in this position, Villa’s public statements would be telling fans we were not to travel without tickets under any circumstances.
OK - it would have no effect on these idiots, but Legia made no attempt to calm the situation, no statement regarding it being due to their fans behaviour in previous rounds, they went on about how unfair it all was - they basically stirred the pot. That can’t go in noticed.

Kick them out. The club are complicit. Everybody knew they were going to try and re-run Alkmaar, by battering their way through. They thought WMP would acquiesce and just let them in. That the club failed to take any measures to distribute tickets makes them responsible as much as their roid head fight club gimps that orchestrated it.

Ban them from Europe. Small Heath style wankers.

‘Tonight’s disorder is believed to have sparked when tickets were not distributed by the away club to supporters outside the ground, as had been anticipated.”

Why would Legia do that and exacerbate the situation? Maybe, as others have suggested, they are intimidated by these ultras, but it’s clear the police and Villa couldn’t have done anything other than close the ground to them.

A Legia fan on talksport (I know, I know) without a ticket phoned up and basically said that they knew they only had 900 tickets but turned up anyway and said you either let us all in or none of us are going in. Might try this the next time I dont get a ticket for an event.

What a bizarre attitude and culture that club has. Everybody's fault but theirs and scared of their own thuggish fans.

I hope we never have to play them again.

I’m fairly sure a Legia fan sat next to me. Not a word out of him throughout the 90 mins and his attire were the giveaways. Hope he enjoyed the game as much as he could. I caught the train at Chester Rd and seen a Polish Mother and Father with their 6 or 7 year old son, the Mom with Villa hat and the son, villa hat and scarf. Looked like it was his first game and theirs. We exchanged smiles.

Assistant Chief Constable of WMP just been on Talksport.  He was saying that the tickets were given to Legia Warsaw and they didn't allocate any as they weren't happy with the allocation.

He then went on to say that the coach park on Witton Road was a ticket collection point where the Legia Warsaw fans were supposed to pick their tickets up from and then those with tickets were supposed to be escorted to the turnstiles.

He then said that the decision was made an hour before that they wouldn't be letting any of them in.  46 in custody now apparently.

All the WMP horses were made redundant a few years ago. Where did they cone from?

Worcestershire or Shropshire was mentioned the other month when they were outside for another match.

What a dark day for our once great club. Even the police horses are all from the shires and don't drink in town.
