Having had a quick rubberneck at their forum, apparently Cash did a number on Doherty in a previous game which is why they now think he's the reincarnation of Pat Van Den Hauwe after the Bentancur stuff.

Anyone remember that?

"I don't suppose you want ME at your party."

That's right, and it's not to do with any preconceived bias, it's because you're the kind of person who says, "I don't suppose you want ME at your party."

I preferred it when we were shit.

I didn’t see the whole match live but watched the recording later on, having heard how we were totally under the cosh in the first half.

It wasn’t what i expected to see - yes they had more of it than we did but we too had our chances and scored.  It could have been 4-4 at half time.

Not our greatest 45 minutes but hardly the Alamo.

The media distortion field that kicks in with spurs is laughable.

Oh and yeah Postecoglu seems a decent type but they’ll be eighth and calling for his head soon enough.

You get an entirely different perspective watching the game back when you know the final score though.

Absolutely. I watched the AZ home leg twice and thought we were much better the second time.

Yesterday I was watching the first twenty minutes on my phone on my way home from work and I thought we looked absolutely terrible. I still think we were lucky not to be too far behind (not behind at all actually) at half-time. Great second half though.

Nice Guy Son actually did pretty much end Gomes career with an horriffic challenge, but yeah, poor old Spurs.

I dont agree. We were lucky to have only conceded one in that first half but it's not as if it was a smash and grab. We scored two, had one disallowed, Torres and Watkins should have had another one each and we hit the post.

They hit the post and had a few chalked off.

Having goals chalked off for offside is irrelevant when you're playing against a team that is setup to catch you offside.

They had 2 decent legal chances in the first half to go with the deflected goal.

I was arguing within the terms set by the OP.

I know, I'm just pointing out that their offsides weren't unlucky we played for it and caught them out, none of them were even close.

Ours was different, Ollie was done because his knee was half an inch too far forward, just a slightly different phase of his stride and that goal stands.

Their late Son one was fairly equivalent to that. We're not pushing up to try and play anyone offside when Porro's shot comes back off the post, a couple of inches forward or backward for Son or for Digne and that one would have counted.

Agree on the others though.

To make the focus on Spurs injuries even worse MOTD mentioned a couple of times that Villa had the unchanged line up week to week without realising - or if they did not caring - was that was because were without so many players

Yep. Somebody on here was arguing that it was a Ben Mee type scissor tackle, when it was nothing of the sort.

i kind of knew this would happen, in the sense that we would win there and get absolutely no credit for it.

True but we were still playing for it, our defence all stepped forward as the ball got to Porro and left Son off, it was a bit closer because Digne was a bit slow getting out but we were still trying to trap them.

Ours they were running with him and had no idea whether he was on or off it was just a chance of timing that his knee was up and the defenders wasn't.

We got three points though, which is kind of why we went there.

Isn't 3 points enough credit for it? Level on points with 3rd place Liverpool is worth more to me than someone on MOTD wanking themselves blind over us.

Didn't feel like it by the flow of the game and thinking about the chances created but we actually had a slightly higher xG than Tottenham.
