The match that sticks in my mind is the one where we were 4-0 up at half time.
Then they got 4 back in the second half.
I was going out with a Spurs supporter at the time and he thought my reactions were hilarious .

Hope Unai continues his move towards world/PL domination. Us 4, them 0.

Regular readers can look away now, but it really is about time we started believing in ourselves.

I think this is exactly it. Shaking off that inferiority complex is different for each and everyone of us, depending upon or respective journeys as Villa fans. But someone asked me today, if I could take a draw now, would I do it and I said no, because I think we can take 3 points. For me as an individual, I think that’s much a sign of the times as anything.

You only have to go back two league matches for an example of supreme confidence going into an away game that went badly. Therefore, a note of caution going into today is not misplaced given our fairly ordinary away form. Having said which, it does feel like a potentially season defining match today so I really hope we turn up.

That ordinary away form should hopefully be more like it come full time at Bournemouth.

Let's not concede early and let's win. Spurs are there for the taking, absolutely no excuses.

Im more confident than i think ive ever been as a Villa fan, but i think predictions are us sticking 4 past them are a bit over optimistic. Our away form this season has been a bit iffy, but since Emery has been with us, I dont really remember us giving anyone a real shoeing away from home. Some really good performances like Chelsea and Spurs away last year, but not the kind of Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham batterings we’ve handed out at home.
Ive said an optimistic 3-1 earlier in the thread, but more nervous now its match day.

I was aiming to highlight a contrast in our approach between back then and now!
Difficult to imagine an Emery-led team getting into that position. I agree 4 away is unlikely, although it would be nice!

I put 1-4 down (we definatley have goals in us) but having said that, I'm not sure about the 'absolutely no excuses' train of thought. They still caused Chelsea problems even when they went down to 9 men. They came out that blocks really quick as well in that game.

I was at this game , it was a Monday night. It was Spurs 125th birthday . at 4-1 up we were all singing "Happy Birthday to you". We ended up with egg on our faces thanks to Marlon Bloody Harewood

There is the cockiest, most arrogant and patronising Spurs fan where I work.
Every week it’s ’if we win the next 7 games  and beat so and so and so forth, we could be top and clear by 1000 points’. He is full of absolute bullshit.

Even he is nervous about playing us.

Well just to be on the safe side I’m going to play lucky songs,
we never/not often lose when i play them before a match

Not that I’m superstitious, but it defo works
In fact everyone going on about Unai Emery being the genius but I think it’s probably more down to my lucky songs to be  truthful

Likewise. I work with 2.... one of em is just about bearable, the other is a complete tit. And it's for this reason alone, I want to pound them into obscurity this afternoon. Utterly deluded fanbase.

Ffs, I genuinely thought it was a 12.30 kickoff for some reason so I’ve rushed about all morning to get things done and just got to the pub to be greeted with Rangers-Aberdeen.

I see Sky Sports are banging the "Spurs down to the bare bones" because they have a few injuries & a suspension.

Completely ignoring the fact that we have had a similar amount out all season so far & nobody has been crying for us...

So the story is already being written.

If Spurs lose, they were unlucky due to their injuries.

If Spurs win, they have heroically beaten the odds.

I really do despise the media in this country...

Extra couple of hours in the boozer. Win win
