If we're resting Watkins I'd rather he started and was taken off as early as possible based on how the game is going. Seems a better idea to have Durán come on and close out a game than be subbed off if we're losing.

i don't think Duran is anywhere near ready to be starting games. Especially in Europe away where his temperament could be exploited

He started against Hibs and scored after, what was it, 15 mins.

I do think that he still probably needs to be an impact sub for the most part, but playing Watkins in every game (which apparently Watkins wants), is a bit much, we need to use the squad. I'm a lot more confident in Duran now than at the start of the season, and against some of these weaker European teams it's a good way to find his feet. I'd be starting him, if not this time then next.

There's surely way more prestige in the Conference league. League Cup, whilst I'd like to win it, is of ever decreasing value. As, let's be honest, is the FA Cup.

Outside of West Ham I can’t see any significant prestige in it. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to win a cup, but looking at the teams in it, I’d say it’s much harder to win the league cup.

Growing up there was 3 European competitions, and the UEFA Cup was generally classed as the lowest of the 3, even though I always thought the CWC was. People loved being in the lowest of the 3 competitions back then, so may as well enjoy it now as well.
