Getting Champions League doesn't just give you financial reward. It helps you to attract players that you otherwise couldn't get.

Equally, keeping the ones you need to keep. Martinez, Luiz, Kamara in particular.

I think we need to be in or very close to the Champions League, Europa League at least, to be keeping hold of everyone on our terms.

Winning this trophy and having memories of Athens that I'll clutch till my last breath is the most important.

It's not an either or though; 5th and European glory await. Fate is inexorable.

I would also add Diaby to that list too.

I guess anything that feels like an improvement on last year and is progression would be acceptable. Whatever form that takes.

You'll have to accept whatever happens, and be charged more for it along the way.

i don't think Duran is anywhere near ready to be starting games. Especially in Europe away where his temperament could be exploited

Only one way to find out...Give him the hour or so and bring on Watkins then

-------Martinez
Cash, Chambers, Carlos (if fit)/Torres, Moreno
Donk, Tielemans
---------Zaniolo
Traore, Duran, Bailey

The above team would require a lot from the Donk.

Champions League will give us the chance (and only a chance) of keeping our best players longer term. Emi will want to play and compete at the very top club level - a couple of others could be good enough to do that too (Luiz, Kamara (on last season's form) and Diaby).

Winning the league cup will be brilliant for us as fans and more of us would be able to experience it - but from the top players' perspective, it means very little to them.

He started against Hibs and scored after, what was it, 15 mins.

I do think that he still probably needs to be an impact sub for the most part, but playing Watkins in every game (which apparently Watkins wants), is a bit much, we need to use the squad. I'm a lot more confident in Duran now than at the start of the season, and against some of these weaker European teams it's a good way to find his feet. I'd be starting him, if not this time then next.

I think that depends on the player. Not to keep using Spurs as an example but Kane had played multiple times in the Champions League, but he still left to win a trophy. I'm sure it would have meant the world to him to win one at Spurs. (Then again I suppose you could argue he would have left Spurs much sooner if they hasn't consistently had European football)

What about Palace and Legia? OK he didn't start but your saw the goal, right?

Anyway, i'm confused. It looks like you'd picked him anyway from that team above.
