Would be interesting to see the stats for Ezri Konsa.
His name seemed to be mentioned a thousand times on VTV
Konsa has really improved on the ball. Even dribbling past players v Burnley. He's looking like a real bargain at the £12m we paid for him.

Run of the mill win. Actually felt bad for Hibs such is the disparity between the English and Scottish football nowadays. I was hoping for a more noisy villa park but I guess that was down to it being a dead rubber after the 5-0 victory in the first leg. Hibs fans were brilliant though but for them it was a case of "fuck it let's just enjoy ourselves" so fair play to them. I really hope Emi is back Sunday because Olsen is nowhere near the standard required if we are going to win things.

As for making Villa Park a fortress.

Since Arsenal in February it's;

P:9
W:9
F:22
A:2

I thought this leaving the ground last night. We’ve won every home game for 6 months.
Such a fantastic run.
The only visitors to get anything positive from Villa Park recently are probably Bruce Springsteen and the E Sreet band and Pink.

I have posted before that there was a time when Scottish footballers were the backbone of English clubs.  These players were by and large established pro's and would usually fit right in.

As I see it, in today's modern game the influx of players from different countries* has seen very few transfers of mature players coming from Scotland and I think this is part of the demise of Scottish football.

The players nowadays coming down are, in the main youth team prospects ( see Villa, Aston)  and with the hoovering up of young Scottish talent it leaves little or no room for development of their own infrastructure.

This all might seem a little simplistic and not a little romantic even but for all the criticism and laughter it gets, Scottish football has stood the test if time and is still here.  Long may it continue.

Just my ramblings.

*I have no objections to players from any other countries plying their trade in Britain.

** I have no affinity to Scotland at all, I just think it gets a bad press it doesn't really deserve, two clubs notwithstanding.

Re the Hibs fans. As ever, all the comments about booking tickets in the home end turned out to be bollocks. They didn't even sell out their allocation.

Or they did and some just didn't fancy the trip for a dead rubber.

They definitely did buy tickets in the home end. The club said as much and cancelled them.

4 straight wins since Newcastle.
Can't ask for much more regardless of opposition standards

Especially with a train strike the next day as well.

We only gave them 2100 - which one of the reason for only having 39000 there - also most of the boxes in the Witton Land stand were empty as was the corner box between the Trinity and the Holte, again probably another few hundred seats.

There were fans at the ticket office trying to get refunds pre-match though.

Great to see Kellyman get a start & an assist.

Once he fills put a bit, he could challenge for a spot in the Prem.

Was hoping for a few more youngsters near the end of the game, but cant complain too much.

Onto the next...

Comfortable win and some valuable game time for fringe members of the squad, Hibs fans were in fine voice where I think Villa fans were quiet due to being comfortably ahead.

Great finish by Duran. I thought Tielemans was poor, and I don't care what anyone says, Olsen is not good enough to be our number 2. Dropped one in the first couple of mins but luckily Konsa cleared, almost tripped over his own feet and kicked one in, caught in no man's land a couple of times bailed out by a magnificent Cash slide tackle.

There's always going to be a drop in quality between your first and second choice, but not to this extent. Made a couple of decent saves tbf, but saves a keeper should be making. If he's our cup keeper then we're not winning anything. Still, all's well that ends well.

Other than that it was a piece of piss and thoroughly professional which is nice to say. I thought their fans were good.

Considering the opposition I don’t think Tielemams did enough to impress Emery and push for a start in the league. Maybe he was trying too hard but his first touch at times, was off. Olsen made a couple of decent saves but his handling doesn’t give the defence confidence and he nearly let that back pass go under his foot. Maybe he’ll grow the more he plays but he’s not going anywhere so we’ll have to back him when he plays.

I agree Paul, Tielemans needs to be doing a bit more as things stand.
