I just saw a great comment from a hits fan

Nice to wake up to such a result.

We looked good on the highlights. Hibernian looked abysmal, and their manager looks more and more ridiculous every time I see him. Like one of those Corinthian figurines from the 90's.

Fucking hell, imagine having to follow them week in week out.

Some of the comments on that forum are very complimentary others are hilariously envious.

Not many of them ie none of them are particularly glowing toward Lee ‘two home ends’ Johnson.

I don’t think the gap between leagues is that stark, Celtic would not get ripped apart by Everton or Sheffield United. (e.g.) Over two legs Burnley needed added time to get past Aberdeen a few years ago.

But the gap between the Glasgow teams and the rest of the Scottish premier league is wider than ever before. I mean! Brendon Rodgers left for Leicester, with Celtic on the brink of doing an (utterly ludicrous) treble treble.

The gulf we saw tonight is basically two gulfs, the top seven of the premier league and the rest, and the gulf between the top two of the Scottish premier league and the rest.
Agree totally with this. The Premier League has ended up creating a gulf between the two countries where the best Scottish teams have roughly the same budget/pulling power as a biggish Championship team, and the gulf between even mid table Premier League teams and those on the Championship is huge - remember how it felt like we couldn't possibly compete with the wages Bournemouth were offering FFS. But the Old Firm haven't helped that and have ended up creating a similar gulf between themselves & the rest of the SPL.

Real shame that there's clearly such a huge gulf in quality though. I don't think it's healthy for football at a whole

I was surprised we were allowed to wear our shirt sponsor, also noticed there were no UEFA sleeve patches.

That was really nice work from Traore to win the peno. Granted you could never really rely on a player that lazy but he could have his uses this season for us.

He's not lazy. If he looks like he's doing nothing at any given time, I can assure you that couldn't be further from the truth. He's thinking. Thinking.

I’d be tempted to upgrade that to ‘scheming’.

Plotting.

The game showed the gulf between us and the Scottish leagues. Shame really as i thought they would be more competitive.
However this is how a professional manager approaches these games, putting out a full strength team and really taking it seriously.
In McGinns interview after the game he was asked had it spoken about that Villa were one of the favourites to win the competition, and he said of course, that's what the manager wants.
Makes a refreshing change to hear that from a Villa manager, it not only instills belief in the players but also sets down a marker for the opposition.
I also thought the BBC Scotland commentary and overall game coverage was very good. In Emery we trust.

Kamara is a world class midfielder. So much time on the ball and always there to pick up the pieces. Along with Luiz and McGinn there can’t be a better midfield in the country. This gives me huge hope for the rest of the season.
I still think we need another centre half, RB and a forward. Get these and we’ll be a serious team this season.

It was only 7 years ago that premier league teams were doing that to us.

"scheming" - really made me laugh!

As others have said, what a professional performance from us. Maybe it's pessimism, but I think had we played that tie under most of our previous managers, that game would have been a lot closer. It's a joy to see us go and let our class shine.

What a bunch of absolute fannies… 😂

#SlaveMentality #RoyalRadges
#VillaForelockTuggers

Is there such hand wringing when the Rugby wankers sing it every year up there?  Facism indeed. They will sing Flower of Scotland or other such dirge down here and most will recognise it as the attempted wind up it is.
