Even just looking at the players near each other on the pitch ours just looked bigger and stronger. I half expected some of their players to do a Louis Tomlinson and throw up after being challenged.

I remember thinking that when we used to be utter shit and every team we played against looked bigger, stronger and faster.

Some of them don't seem to like us as much as they did before the game

https://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?363562-Money-talks

They don't seem that bad really but this one:

Modern football unfortunately.

I think the worst part about the popularity of the premier league is it gives horrible fan bases like that lot the chance to support their teams pump teams like us and take the piss.

Job done with extreme prejudice. I feel sorry for Hibs fans who were hoping to see a different result. We should be able to manage the second leg now. The expression 'Onwards and upwards' has never felt more appropriate.
We been in the same position a few times

0-5 up in the first leg of a European competition?

Scottish fitba is shite.
Well, similarly, English food is shite but we realise that you have other qualities.

Professional performance with the bonus of Sir Des and McCafu on the telly coverage. Pretty decent evening.

Give young Feeney his head in the return leg. Lad's gonna be a baller. Think we've sold off all our other young lads unfortunately so I'm not sure who else we can blood.
Omari Kellyman. Maybe Kaden Young. Kerr Smith. Or Rory Wilson...

Tbh though, it wouldn't be a bad night to give the back four more time to play together. Cash, Carlos, Torres, Digne (currently) Would give them time to get used to each other a bit more & build up a partnership. Even if its only Carlos & Torres...

I’d certainly like to see that.
They need more game time together as it’s a new partnership.

They interviewed Unai Emery on BBC Scotland after the game a and he said that he respected Hibs and the competition tonight and would be doing so in the second leg.  I'd imagine he would want them to get into the rhythm of Thursday and Sunday games.

I really don’t think Emery is one for ‘Playing the kids’
Maybe one or two and a couple on the bench, but certainly not a complete change

Because I cherish you all, I've done some digging on precedent.

Most obvious one that jumped out, first knock-out round 15-16 Europa League.

Sevilla won the first leg 3-0, Emery made seven changes for the second leg. Kept the keeper, main centre-back, main midfielder, striker and changed everything else.

Molde won the second leg 1-0.

Might be different if you're trying to teach a whole new back four how to play together though.

I don’t think the gap between leagues is that stark, Celtic would not get ripped apart by Everton or Sheffield United. (e.g.) Over two legs Burnley needed added time to get past Aberdeen a few years ago.

But the gap between the Glasgow teams and the rest of the Scottish premier league is wider than ever before. I mean! Brendon Rodgers left for Leicester, with Celtic on the brink of doing an (utterly ludicrous) treble treble.

The gulf we saw tonight is basically two gulfs, the top seven of the premier league and the rest, and the gulf between the top two of the Scottish premier league and the rest.

Were they filming a re-make of The Birds in the ground after the game? There were bastard loads of them.

That was nuts.  Hopefully Lee Johnson parked his Fiat 500 undercover somewhere or it'll be covered in seagull shite.

I’m angry at myself for ever doubting them. I was the same against Everton.

Will take a while to educate myself that this is no longer the Villa of old…. This is a different beast.

Hopefully we’re the holders of the Euro conference trophy and the FA Cup next summer!

I’m actually shocked at the gulf in quality between the two Premier Leagues maybe i was being naive

My lad asked me how good they would be and I said they would probably be at the level of a lower championship team
After watching that don’t I think they would survive in any of our professional leagues

Honestly, when most Premier teams up here (outside the gruesome twosome) get a sniff of a league 1 player we think we’re going to take on the world.
