The added time thing is just stupid.

I disagree. For way too long teams have been wasting time and getting away with it. If the players don't like the amount of time added on then the simple solution is to not waste time. I think the refs are being particularly stringent on it early in the season to prove the point. Teams will have to adapt and then it will come down
Yes I think this too. I reckon yellow cards being handed out earlier for time wasting will also make teams think twice about slowing down the game.

Also today, there were a lot of stoppages for injuries:  Luiz, Calvert-Lewin, Iwobi, Coutinho plus a few others.

In addition, added time for a goal used to be typically 30 seconds, but that has been extended this season to be more realistic and is now at least double.

The easiest solution to it all would be to get rid of all stoppage time, and stop the clock everytime the ball isn't in play

i'd prefer the transparency of that solution

Thought Jhon had been a bit heavy with his touch for his goal, but he recovered well.
yeah handed to him on a plate but his 1st touch was that of a rapist
Not a very nice analogy!

Everton were absolutely rotten. DCL is their best player but makes Coutinho look robust. The rest of them are a rag bag bunch of journeymen and under-performers. Whatever they played for Iwobi was too much by a factor of about a million. You can only beat what's in front of you though, and we did an excellent, professional job. It could and should have been more.

Mu nephew told me Calvert Lewin was playing in the Bartons and I replied "Yeah, for about half an hour"

I was five minutes out.

In fairness to DCL at least he went into the tackle fully committed, about the only Everton player I saw doing it. He was left in a fair old state afterwards, so much for concussion protocols etc

I only watched the first 60 mins and the likes of Digne and Bailey who I've slated previously did well. McGinn, Luiz, Kamara were very sharp. Torres decent on ball but caught flat foot badly by the Everton sub one time. But the story of the game is Everton really, I don't think we had played a team that bad since the championship. We weren't really even that good and 4-0 still flatters them. Watkins was disappointing I thought given how dominant we were.

I understand Bailey isn't fan favourite, but if he is fit there's no full backs in the league that are going to be looking forward to playing against him and Diaby.
Great to see that common sense had prevailed and Dougie has got hold of penalties.
Agent Young was excellent in the second half, it's been too long since one of our sleepers has had a positive imapct!

Do you think, for a split second, he actually forgot which team he's on?

18 minutes of added time, that's adding on another 20% of the original time. If that's become the norm, a 50 match season will in effect become a 60 match season.
Don’t say that, tickets will go up 20% again.

18 extra minutes today with both halves.  Bloody stressful if the game is tight, fortunately, not like today when we looked on top from the first minute.   Some excellent performances with SJM the standout for me.  Digne and Konsa played well too.  Great to get off the mark with a clean sheet too.

No. Just a bad day at the races for him. Great for us.

I don’t envisage an easier home game all season, Everton really are awful.
McGinn MOTM for me easily but must say I was impressed by Torres, and by Diego Carlos and Tielemans when they came on. I love Ollie but he’s miles off it at it at the moment. Didn’t like all the added time but I guess not so bad on a warm summers afternoon.

On the added time thing. How much time does it take for all the players to wander over for a group hug after a goal, all get a high5 off everyone, and then get back into position for the restart? It's only a small thing, when you're scoring 4 goals, it's probably a good 6 or 7 minutes added.
