We should win.

I will be very interested to see how Unai will counter the long ball over the top of our defence which seemed to be the only major weakness in our team.

We begin every season in the top 2 or 3, dependent on whether AFC Bournemouth are in the league - it's up to us to lose that spot, an annual quirk of fate that I'm sure has not gone unnoticed by Super Unai.

So. One nil to the Arsenal at Forest, Wet Spam will get a draw at Bournemouth. I therefore expect us to be top of the table at close of play with +2GD after a 3-0 to us against the Jaudis.

Going to be 15 minutes added on in this given how long both keepers take goal kicks when their teams aren't losing.

Be prepared for that, endless injury time in the lower leagues today so refs will follow that directive to the letter until around October.

I don't know what he wants to do in the middle of defence but I think Digne should be starting at LB until Moreno is fit again. Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne should be the back 4 for Newcastle anyway.

No way should he disrupt the Konsa/Mings partnership to accommodate Torres

Not everyone will agree but I'd be very happy with a point next weekend

Let's be honest, it couldn't be a much tougher start and while it has been a good pre-season it doesn't really count for anything other than give an idea of individual form. No Torres at left back amd Bailey left back on the bench is the big take and I hope it's heeded.
The first game of the season always throws up some barmy results and we are a very good side.

I agree.

I think we're fully capable of going there and winning, but this is a 6 pointer away from home at a place where we always lose and where the home side are very strong.

A point would be a good result.

Martinez

Cash
Konsa
Mings
Digne

JPB
Luiz
Kamara
McGinn

Diaby
Watkins

Think we will need Kamara's physical presence and JPB running off the ball here.

Plus the Harvey Barnes factor who always seems to score against us . A point would be great for us and piss them off no end

A point would be a good result - followed by a routine home win over Everton and we will be top 6 after 2 games

Anyone else think that Villa may put at least another 10% on match day prices due to the added time that will be played at matches!!?? Never ones to fail to spot a “fleece our fans” opportunity.
