I don't know if it's extra gym work paying off, if he's carrying himself differently going into physical confrontations, or simply Onana's presence taking some of the heat off, but whatever it is it's much, much improved.

Agreed he isn't hesitant getting tight on forwards near the half way line. This had become a big issue in his game.

True, good spot.

Fantastic player who is instrumental to our game play. Absolute class on the ball to compliment Konsa who is McGrathesque in his ability to stop an opponent before they have even decided what they intend to do themselves.

It’s no surprise our defensive performances and even our whole play has improved with Torres coming back into form. We missed him hugely last season. What a player.

Bournemouth are very reliant on their press and we just kept missing out their press.

We did it really well against Newcastle last season too, but weren’t able to in the first game of this season as Martinez was suspended.

There was 1 in their good spell at the start of the 2nd half where he played Semenyo offside that was a beautiful bit of defending, Pau stepped a bit deeper and made sure Semenyo knew and then as soon as he moved Pau stepped back into line and left him a yard offside, made it look so natural and simple but also takes a lot of trust from the entire defence to let 1 player conduct the trap like that.

I think he helped Digne a lot doubling up on Semenyo when required. Kamara and Onana helped in front too

Aston Villa have lost just two of their last thirty five home games in all competitions that Pau Torres has started, and none of their last nineteen (W14, D5)

It's wonderful that he's come back not only fully fit but better than at any time since he's been here. Not only has he added to his physicality but he is now showing consistency.

If Mings had been in the team it would have been w19, d0, l0

Why? I don’t recall anyone exaggerating/lying before.

We've not had a Cash - Konsa - Pau - Digne stat update for a while.

How are the figures looking now?

Whatever it is, I’m happy that players who get better results for Villa are playing. I’ve been consistent in that, even though it was a lonely viewpoint for a while for some mad reason.

There you go, no such thing as a mod reason other than walking around with a target on your back.😉
