Torres was superb last night, not far behind Kamara for me

It was a perfect reminder of why he needs to be involved if we want to get back to the best we've been under Emery. Tielemans coming back from injury will help massively as well.

Yep Torres at his best has to start.

His passing on Thursday night brought an extra dimension to our play, with depth and accuracy. It was a shame that we didn’t really capitalise on that.

No, but crucially it helped add lots to our play. That will bear fruit if he maintains that level. It was also notable how much better the organisation was on Thursday.

His best game for a good while last night. His passing made a noticeable difference to us just enabling us to get out of defence much better. But most pleasingly, his positioning and physicality in defence were really good. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Agreed. Noticeable that he looks much better in European games.

Aye.

Think it's a definite plan to have him as a guaranteed starter for the Euro games. Pace is usually slower and a lot of the sides we face won't have forwards as good or robust as he'd usually face in the PL.

As good as Mings is (and he is good) two games a week is prob beyond him now, based on his age and history of injuries etc.

Hopefully some of Torres' good in the Euro games bleeds into his PL form if called upon.

Mings is a good defender, but if we’re going to play the style we’re going to play I don’t think his passing is good enough to be a regular starter.

Should be next cab off the rank tops, based on his form with us in the top flight over an extended period of time.

If a defender splitting the lines with intricate passes truly is fundamental to the way Emery wants to play (didn't seem much of a barrier in his first season with us) he needs to find a better defender than Torres and someone better on the ball than Mings.

He probably does, but as has been proven at our best Torres has been good enough.

Good again. Really opened up our ability to play with an attacking mindset.

He’s our best ball player in defence and is massive in the way we play.

A Rolls-Royce of a player. Love watching him on the ball.

Top drawer again today, I fear for his defensive abilities sometimes but as we all know his passing is so good that without him in the team we lose a pretty important dimension to our play

Played well. If he's going to keep playing in the same team as Lindelof, though, one of them needs to dye their hair.

Really starting to look like he did in his first season. Few missed placed passes tonight, but generally excellent. The turn and pass for Malen that led to the second was superb.

Gazelle like at times tonight. A few passes dropping us in the shit which we got away with, but that's the risk you take playing him if the positives outweigh that.
