That’s £50m in wages over 5.
About £24m to public purse.
Will pay for a few nurses and doctors.

I've never booed anyone but I imagine one of the main factors to him being booed on his return will be because he has gone to Man Utd. Think of how many hookeys there are! 😬
"Never booed anyone"  Delph, Downing, Bosnich were all fair game in my opinion.

I haven't. I don't care enough to. They've gone, that's it.

Thanks Youri you were far better than I expected.
Let’s all remember where we got him from and his and our level at the time.
We’ve moved on from then so should be well capable of an adequate replacement.

We were 7th when he joined, he hardly saved us from oblivion.

My point is we have improved considerably since then so sorting out an adequate replacement should be within our gift.

I’m gutted , I can’t lie. He’d become such an important player for us. Oozed quality.
But we go again. Use the money to improve the squad remembering he’s 29, was in a trophy winning team , and was a free.

Good luck to him.

He's been a top player for us. We got him on a free sold him for 35 mil and he turns 30 next birthday so it's not a bad bit of business in the cold light of day.
He gave us some fantastic memories not least his magnificent volley in Istanbul.
However he's signed for that despicable club that I actually despise more than Small Heath so he's dead to me now. I hope he's a massive and expensive flop up there.
I refuse to wish him luck but I thank him for the memories.
We'll always have Istanbul.

Yeah agree on the wider sentiment, but can’t wish him luck. I actively want his team to fail, they’re direct rivals.

Financially both transfer fee and wages makes perfect sense, less so in terms of the pitch and squad. Like any other player he’s gone, he’s not a Villa player so we can forget about him.

Even if they weren't direct rivals wanting them to fail should be the default position for all rational football fans.

I appreciate social media is 100% mind bleach but before you start gloating about Man Utd on Instagram at least pay respect to Villa and Unai for putting your career back on track and enabling you to sign your massive career ending contract Youri you bellend

Couldn’t agree more. His interview reads along the lines of joining Villa being a massive inconvenience for him and that he has finally arrived where he wanted to be all along. Show us a bit of respect Youri. He has been brilliant for us and will be badly missed in the team but that interview leaves a very sour taste.

I've always found that if you're on a date and chatting someone new up, it's probably better not tell to them how wonderful your ex was.
