A fitting finale was McGinn shielding the ball with his arse as if his life depended on it.

He came across there as a very good character i must say. Some lovely words about Villa about Emery at the end; " ... Emery - one of the most important coaches in the world".
Edit: this in response to the post match interview with their manager posted on the side before this.

Nice to see Mellberg on the pitch before kick off, still a handsome bastard.

Good grief, had a look on their forum.

Never trust a team with 'Albion' in its name.

Me too, weird that seemingly everyone in the ground thought the ref was shit and biased to the other side. It’s good however that we are disliked, I mean who gives a shit about Brighton? They are so inoffensive they don’t even have a rival team.

Their Japanese fans here are the same. Wankers. I've enjoyed today immensely.

About 150 students crammed into a lecture hall this morning. They know I'm Villa. They usually love to talk about Brighton. Today, they were aloof and silent.

So for the first 10 minutes or so, I just showed the match highlights. Felt wonderful.

What is it with teams like Brighton who get into the Premier League and immediately think they're important? This attitude of we're really great and clubs like Villa and Everyon with 140-odd years of top-level history are lower than them.

Maybe it's the old thing that if both sides think the mediator is crap then maybe he's got it just about right.

What I find dissatisfying is how the lino got both their goal decisions wrong and VAR overturned his flag on both occasions. Not great

It's weird - I want to like them! Their story's all grand, they're well run and that, nice football, contributed to knocking Spurs down a peg this season, all good things. But they do seem to have got all bitter about something re us, and I don't get it.

The town is pretty arrogant and up itself. Sees itself as a trendy London suburb on the sea

Brighton is a great town.
They had fans joining in the singing outside the Holte.
Of course they have some twats, but so do we.

A huge amount of bitterness on the Brighton forum.
