My mate bought that Lille third shirt when we were over there the other week. It’s a nice kit.

When would he wear it ? Pub ? Playing football ? On holiday ?

I don't think that's something you need to worry your weird head about.

Des, tell us what your mate looks like so we can all picture him wearing it. I'm going for Winnie The Pooh style in the kitchen.

I'm going for David Mellor style in the bedroom.

That makes it

"I don't think that's something you need to worry you are weird head about."

Are you sure about that Tim?

Years ago I knew someone that whenever he was abroad he'd buy a replica shirt for the local side. He never wore them he just liked collecting them. Some people like to collect stuff.

I reckon replica shirt collection is a massive thing. Like the new philately.

There used to be a poster on here called Cooper's Injury. He was into boot-cut jeans and pointy shoes. It takes all sorts.

It is, I know at least 3 replica shirt collectors (some others might keep it a secret). One has a ridiculous collection he's been putting together since he was 13, so 35ish years. Swansea fan. Know Fiorentina and Wales were his speciality, he's got every home/away/third from those 2 since god knows when.

I'd say there is nothing wrong buying a souvenir from what turned out to be a great European tie (imagine that had been in the Champion's League, the added 'status' would have had it in the annals. Even so, people will speak of Martinez's antics and Cash's vital goal in years to come), and why not buy a Lille shirt rather than a half and half scarf?

I've a mate (Liverpool fan) who subscribes to one of those 'mystery shirt' companies, and about once every couple of months they send him some weird and obscure club's shirt that they've decided is 'nice'.  He's got about a dozen of them, and regularly wears them, despite being a pretty hardcore Liverpool fan.

I guess if you like football shirts, it's a perfectly normal thing to do.  Not something I would do personally, but each to their own.

I have a whole bunch of rugby shirts that I've picked up for training, off the top of my head I currently have 4 different national teams, 3 english club sides and 2 french, I had a connacht shirt as well but I gave that one away.
