"Every time you come here it must bring back memories Pongo," I said. He stared out for a long while. I thought he'd forgotten I was there. "Aye", he said suddenly "aye, they're a great club...the greatest." I stood and looked with him, this old man whose goals had set the Villa crowds roaring so long ago. It was not quite dusk on that March afternoon and I saw them too...
Ah ok, if DD has the overall record, that makes sense. Presumably he scored more than 49 league goals? Even Haaland will do well to get to that in this or any season.
Didn't Dixie Dean and Pongo Waring both start out at Tranmere Rovers?
Of course, Haaland is some type of AI-robot built at NASA's Norwegian base.

Can't find the source right now, but sure I read somewhere that Pongo had played school football or something like that against Dixie Dean.
I was listening to a podcast and they mentioned how Dixie Dean had to have a bollock removed after a nasty challenge for Tranmere when he was 17. Then 17 years later in a pub in Chester a man brought him a pint and he recognised it was the one who caused him to lose a bollock so he went over and battered him. Haven't looked this up but it's quite funny to retaliate 17 years later if it is.
