I have been absent from the site some time and haven`t been to a game for a while - due to ongoing health issues
My son (VCTM jnr) took me to our local in Formby yesterday as a treat and we met up with a fellow Brummie who lives close to us
I was totally blown away by the way we took the game to the Geordies from the off - it was a joy to watch.
After the game I said to my son that the performance was one of the best I had ever seen - it was a total team effort
In 60 + years of watching the Villa that was up there as one of the most enjoyable
It is indicative that so many of us elder fans have expressed similar opinions
The way we played the game reminded me of the Ron Saunders 110% effort era, where every player gave their all for the team
Exciting times ahead
UTV

Great to see you back mate!
Yes all the best VCTM.

If my evidently poor attempt at humour has upset anybody, then I apologise.

In my circle, we are not afraid of having a little fun at each others expense, including our own. We push the boundaries because we are all comfortable with who we are & we all welcome it as nothing more than playful banter.

But clearly, some people are a little more sensitive, so I will attempt to be more formal in the future.

But I will categorically state, my comment that has offended some, was NOT homophobic. Anybody who thinks the intention behind it was homophobic is 100% categorically wrong.

The point is, you and your brothers can have whatever bantz you want, but your not with your brothers on here, your on a social media forum and whether you like it or not, some people find what you said offensive or at best crass.

Who needs Andy Lochhead in the air, when Ollie can assist like that for our first? He was higher than the fucking sun!

What a ridiculous article. The team they put out yesterday cost in the region of €320m while ours cost around €160m… (from a quick google on transfrmrkt).

A lot of their fans have dismissed this for the bollocks it obviously is

And to be fair the article does acknowledge that Howe is getting a lot from an average squad, which I thought but was too scared to say.

With respect Pablo, there may be some on here that could be struggling with their sexuality and are afraid to come out.  I accept that your banter with your brothers, well adjusted individuals no doubt, but, as said, it just may not sit well with people on a public forum.

An exceptional and dominant display from the first to the last. It's hard to recall another game, this deep into a season, with a genuine top 6 battle, where we excelled so completely in every department.

I felt if anything, yesterday highlighted a serious deficiency in Howe's tactical thinking. He had no clue how we set up, he failed to react in a way that would have given them a foothold and they were just clueless. Their midfield 3 were consistently outnumbered by Ramsey and McGinn coming narrow to form a box 4. It gave us an extra man and with Buendia finding space between the lines, we caused havoc on turnovers.

The efforts was there too mind. Moreno was fantastic, but it helps that he has 3 lungs. He terrorised Newcastle and I felt we bullied them with the speed we hit them out of possession. When Howe went full Lambert second half, it did nothing to stop their midfield being overrun and in fact gave us more space.

It surprises me that their high line hasn't cost them more, as Watkins murdered them by splitting the centre halves, while Burn looked every inch the donkey he is.

Equally their high press was consistently played through. Mings is starting to find a more expansive range by hitting the 10 space in midfield. That sort of press proof player at centre half and in midfield is the profile I think we'll go for.

A £30m Champions League centre half who probably isn't ready in Carlos, Coutinho, Bailey, Cash and Kamara- all out. We'll need them for the run in, but its quite something how well we're doing with such a threadbare squad.

The ground was bouncing. A statement was made. Lucky? Stick your Xg up your arse.
