Has anybody checked in on Andy “why can’t we all be football friends” Macfarlane?

He's writing up his apology for us bumming them in the arse on national TV...

I have been absent from the site some time and haven`t been to a game for a while - due to ongoing health issues
My son (VCTM jnr) took me to our local in Formby yesterday as a treat and we met up with a fellow Brummie who lives close to us
I was totally blown away by the way we took the game to the Geordies from the off - it was a joy to watch.
After the game I said to my son that the performance was one of the best I had ever seen - it was a total team effort
In 60 + years of watching the Villa that was up there as one of the most enjoyable
It is indicative that so many of us elder fans have expressed similar opinions
The way we played the game reminded me of the Ron Saunders 110% effort era, where every player gave their all for the team
Exciting times ahead

Great to see you back mate!

Side note , who is patterson on the subs bench ?

Highly rated right back. Has been coveted by Spurs in the past and plays for one of the England youth sides.

Thanks, seems to have come from
nowhere 🤔

He has been out for nearly a year due to a stress fracture, that he has been put straight into the first team squad shows how highly he his thought of.

Best performance, considering the opposition, I can remember for years. Every single player was exceptional. What a day.
It's difficult to compare it with games of yore as it's a different game these days.  I'd say it was a performance better than anything I've seen in 15 years.  The 7-2 over Liverpool can't be comparable as none of us were there and anyway regardless of that scoreline where everything that was hit at goal went in this was a much more measured performance of dominance. We outplayed, outfought and out thought Newcastle in every aspect of the game.
If Emery's additions to the team next season are of the quality of Moreno then who knows where he can take us. Great time to be a Villan.  I'm more optimistic than when MO'N was in his peak with us.
Exactly, Bren.

I’ve been watching Villa since 1975. I can not think of a more commanding, complete team performance.

Middlesbrough 81 for me, but yesterday was as good.

Yep I was at that game. I remember Tony Morley absolutely terrorising them down the left. 3-0 was a massive underrepresentation of how one-sided the game was

Same timescale for me from the mid-70s

The Three Liverpool games
The 5-1 the 7-2 and the semi-final at Wembley all stick in the mind
But Yesterday was right up there for a perfect 90 minutes
Yes, John, those games were the ones that came to my mind. I'd add the Villa-Liverpool game of 1981 (2-0) as well, and the Leeds LCF of 1996.

Second time you’ve made this kind of comment since yesterday. I appreciate we’re all happy to have taken Newcastle to the cleaners yesterday but the homophobic stuff is just totally unnecessary.

Don't be ridiculous.

Its not homophobic.

Its the sort of language I use with both of my gay brothers & it mostly comes from them, so please don't try your overly PC virtue signalling nonsense with me...

It's offensive, it's homophobic and if you want to keep using phrases like that last one you can do it somewhere else.

It's offensive, it's homophobic and if you want to keep using phrases like that last one you can do it somewhere else.

If it offends people, then thats fine. Say so in a normal manner & I will apologise for the offence.

But it is NOT homophobic.

If somebody thinks that it is, then they should explain why. Maybe it says more about the person who thinks it is than it does about me, because both men & women have arses. The point is it was a childish jesting way of saying it was painful for them. Nothing more. Nothing less. I didn't specifically state man, woman, trans, etc...

So being accused of being homophobic, when I have & love, two gay brothers, who I banter with back & forth (meaning they say shit like that to me all the time) with phrases like that in jest, is incredibly offensive to me.

If my evidently poor attempt at humour has upset anybody, then I apologise.

In my circle, we are not afraid of having a little fun at each others expense, including our own. We push the boundaries because we are all comfortable with who we are & we all welcome it as nothing more than playful banter.

But clearly, some people are a little more sensitive, so I will attempt to be more formal in the future.

But I will categorically state, my comment that has offended some, was NOT homophobic. Anybody who thinks the intention behind it was homophobic is 100% categorically wrong.
