That forum seems convinced we achieved it chiefly through time-wasting, diving and having the referee in our pockets. If that's what that looks like, sign me up.

I'm not nearly tactically savvy enough to explain why but it was fucking amazing how regularly we found ourselves in acres of space. It was almost as if they had had 2 players sent off or something.
So that's you, me, Eddie Howe and Stevie G.  :)

They've achieved nothing so far and have only been a division of the official House of Saud Sportwashing Operation for five minutes, yet they've already turned into graceless twats.

Bunch of arrivistes. They'll be telling people to 'mind the gap' next.

Newcastle supporters manage the difficult task of combining arrogance with the thinnest skins in football. It's admirable in its way.

I don't claim to be a an expert, but it looks like a balls-up from Howe. I think they'd been told to press Doug as he brought it out, knowing that we play it out from the back.

Buendia and Ramsey then split just behind Guimares. Given Doug is better at finding an angled pass than anyone else we have, he then just chooses one or the other to put it through to, and all of a sudden we had Watkins, Buendia, Ramsey and Moreno all running at their defence without any of their midfield in the way.
Andi I thought playing Dendoncker was a master stroke. He stole everything off them when they did have the ball.

It just goes to show, you don't necessarily need to play with wingers. Which is a shame as I love a tricky winger.

We have just thrashed the best Newcastle team in 20 years. Absolutely battered them. More is it isn’t a one off result. Or 2 or 3. Pro rata it is an 80 point season

That was as good a 90 minute performance as I've seen for god knows how long. Absolutely superb.

The atmosphere was electric from the first minute too. More of that please. The hope and expectation is increasing.

Wow just wow.
That’s one of those matches I wish I could have it as a 90 min full match on dvd and pop it on my shelf next to all the Oscar winning movies in my collection.

Pre-match I thought it’d be tight affair maybe a 1-1 and a Bertie worldie for 2-1. My worry was Dendocker (after his Stevenage clanger), 3 on Watkins to nullify him out the game and targeting on Young with their high press.

Well as usual thanks to Mr Emery and his meticulous methods, coaching, motivation we played superbly for the whole match considering the opponents and their form. Definitely like others have said a statement win.

We’re on a high as Villa fans and this party isn’t ending soon. Manure away is looking very tasty indeed.

Every player take a bow for your performance !

Another clean sheet !
Another game to score!

Opposition swept aside!

We’re on an upward trajectory- take that you barcodes!

I reckon that's the best we've played in about 15 years. The 7-2 against Liverpool is the only other game I can think of that comes close.

Exactly my thoughts - in fact, I can't remember which top flight game I was last at where we've played so comprehensively well. Every player played to their strengths, and I thought the MF 5 were awesome; Luiz particularly (although Ramsey's passing and McGinn's tenacity were also impressive).
Dendonk played really well, and Watkins' movement was sublime.
The back four were similarly superb.
And - a mention to the crowd: the atmosphere was up there with the best at VP.
