Agree about Sancho. I know they'll most likely not finish outside the top six, but there's something of an uninspiring malaise about them. They're the new spurs. Spurs being the new Crystal Palace. If you wanna enjoy your game, get out.

Reading about them linked with El Ghazi today, I was reflecting on the fact they actually fielded, on a very regular basis, Wout Weghorst last season, a player so utterly, utterly shit, I'd despair if we were linked with him, let alone signed him.

Their ground, dilapidated and falling apart, is a good metaphor for the club.

Greenwood and Antony, all that stuff. Their lack of a consistent signings policy. Them having wildly expensive signings like Maguire and Sancho delivering absolutely fuck all.

That is a club in a bad place.

Good.

It’s a real mess, this Anthony issue isn’t going away with him thinking the way to address this is through social media posts, which of course is counter productive.
Ten Haag has lost that air of competence  and has now fallen foul of criticising a player in public.
Maguire the Glazers , it’s a shit show.

If they don't we will be top 4. They have bought well in key positions, Maddison is a far better creative midfielder than we have, Son is a better forward than Watkins and their wide options are really strong. Their central midfield is young but very competent. I would question their back 4, but they have signed a very good keeper under the radar, who will make a big difference. Most importantly, they have appointed a very good manager, with a very clear identity. I think Spurs will be 4th or 5th this season sadly, they look a side that has stumbled and fumbled to a decent position - and I loathe Spurs.

They’ve had a fairly easy start to the season though. I’d prefer to wait and see how they look after a few tougher games but on the face of it I don’t think they’ve done enough to compensate for the loss of Kane.

Like ourselves, injuries to a couple of key players could derail them. They still have lots of average players getting game time at the moment. But they definitely look a more cohesive unit. We are a bit all over the place currently given all the injuries so far and badly need Ramsey and Moreno fully fit.

Lets not forget this time last season Spurs were enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season.

Lets not forget this time last season Spurs were enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season.

And the year before that they started with three straight wins too. Nuno was still gone by November.

I think it's a bit early to make broad proclamations about how either team will do. Last season received wisdom said that we were great and they were awful, we still only just finished ahead of them on the final day.

They might do the typical Spurs collapse again this year. They might not. Or we might. Or not.

I do yes. The injuries and Europe will go against us.
Spurs strengthened well and don't have the distraction of Europe. Of course if Spurs picked up some key injuries thats a leveller.

Both Spurs and Chelsea have the benefit of no European distractions this season.  And both have new managers, plus new, expensive players.  On the face of it, you would expect both of them to have significantly better seasons than the previous one, but there are no guarantees.

I'm still expecting us to have a similar points return per game as we got under Unai last season, which will have us firmly in the European mix come the spring.  And if we're on target for that in January, I'd expect to see us strengthen, too.

What we really need, is a result at Chelsea, to get away from the 'flat track bully' reputation we're in danger of building.  It would also be nice to play one of the top-four contenders without losing a centre-back to injury in the first twenty minutes.

I would not put Chelsea in the same bracket as Spurs . Chelsea are a basket case . I think we will struggle to hit that points per game Emery achieved last season without Mings and partly Buendia.

Dendoncker might be going to Fenerbache before the Turkish window closes Friday night. We're supposedly open to doing a loan or permanent move.
