Emery does like his centre halves to be cultured, doesn't he? If they can defend, well that's a bonus.

It's ok, where we're going, we're not going to be doing much defending.

If you're defending, you've lost already. We don't let our opponents get a sniff of the ball these days :D

Lenglet is a decent player, was just caught up in the mess that was Spurs at the time.

Exactly, look at Citeh's defence, nothing to write home about.

I don't know if Lenglet was at Seville whilst Emery was there or just after. But he is probably well known to Monchi. He's not a replacement for Ming's, as that's a big ask, but would be a useful backup.

I do wonder are we actually interested in some of the players we're linked with or are we, or more precisely Emery, at a level where a players value increases just by association with us. "Oh Villa are interested in this guy, you'll have to give us 5 million extra and quickly or he'll be off to Birmingham" kind of thing.

Suspect he might have been on the just in case list but that’s about all

Nuno Tavares has just signed for Forest.

I bet the Villa atheists are feeling very silly now.

Romano
EXCL: Aston Villa weighing up a move for Clement Lenglet as option on the table for the final days of the window 🟣🔵

There are multiple options available but Barcelona aware of Aston Villa interest, waiting for developments.

In any case, Barça feel sure that CL will leave.

Can’t say I know enough about him but I can’t remember him pulling up any trees at Spudz

He's shite....think we are ok at LCB with Torres and Carlos anyway.

Of course we aren’t, if 10% of links are true I’d be surprised…agents trying to get cuts of fees, journos making up rubbish and that’s before the keyboard attention seeking muppets on twatter etc.  Surprised we haven’t been used more to generate interest in players this summer, though I guess it’s all been Saudi this and Saudi that.

Would be interesting to know whether any move for Lenglet would be as a permanent deal or as a loan with an option to buy. The latter would be perfect to cover us while Mings is out but I did read earlier that we've gazumped Sevilla by offering a permanent deal as Sevilla want a loan deal.
