Do we really need another centre-back?

Where are the links to wingers, forwards, strikers?

I hope the club have something planned 😭

I imagine Lenglet would be a loan to fill Mings shows this season, being left footed and all that

Cash and Digne are wingers now.

Martinez and Ollie are the only ones we really need back up for now. If anything happened to either of them, I think we'd have a real problem.

We need a striker!

Not sure if Unai agrees this window

Maybe we go back for Tammy in January?

I'm half joking half serious here but...... Cash's finishing looked pretty decent. Do you think if we were absolutely stuck for options he could play a few games up top? I mean, probably if Watkins was out we'd be looking at Diaby or Zaniolo to play as a full striker, but I'd fancy Cash to net a few if they were playing where they do now and he's just floating around the box.

His goalscoring rate since joining us, along with his glaring miss against newcastle, would suggest that we'd have to be really stuck to consider that.

Sure there are a few of them who could do a job for a game or two but would lose a significant amount of attacking threat if we lost Ollie who is a massive cog in how we play and replacing like for like is massive, Ings couldn’t do it so finding someone who can do the role Unai wants is tough

Oh we'd definitely have to be stuck, but I'm thinking Duran out injured, Ollie gets a knock early on in a game and has to come off. The bench is 3 keepers and 5 centre backs.....

If playing as a striker in an Emery team was as straight forward as being able to finish, surely we wouldn't have sold Cam.

We're still 2 short. An attacking and a defensive option. A quick glance at our bench tells you that. Players will return from injury sure, but others will get injured too. As ever with Villa, we are not going the final step to be truly strong enough to compete.

Against that we have to accept that Emery is only going to sign players that are up to his standards. If they’re not available he’ll wait for the next window.
And there we have it.  Jam tomorrow.  It was ever thus.

Spence at Spurs is probably available never had a look in there but was good at Forest.  Cash like and could be decent cover for him if UM thinks we need right back cover:

I remember lots of people thinking ElGhazi could do a job up top if needed.  Until he was needed and then we realised very quickly that he couldn't.
