Castagne looking like he could be going from Leicester to Fulham for £15m.  Not spectacular, but might have been a decent squad addition at that price.

Forest have turned down £43mil plus add ons for Brennan Johnson from Brentford. I thought earlier in the window they'd said £40mil was the asking price. Seems they've changed their minds.

Not sure we need him now but that seems a lot of money.

They've said they want £50m for him but it was thought that they would take £40m. Nothing more than a thought though. They might do a deal for £45m+add-ons.

I think we moved on and signed Zaniolo instead.

Different type of player really.  Johnson would be competition for Ollie Watkins' spot.

They are but I suspect OCD is right.

Probably Paul.  Think it is dependent on whether they see Diaby being able to play as a striker as well.

Johnson is a good player, would be a very good player under Emery I reckon. Sadly, I also think he'll kick on under Ange so I hope Spurs don't get him. Already think Spurs look very un spursy so far which is worrying.
Yes - I thought that too - I was thinking, how come Leicester and spurs can get managers from Scotland that arent chancers, but yet we get fooled

Ange and Rodgers are both actual football managers though. Gerrard is an ex player more than a manager if that makes sense.

I used my 'footy levels insight' to try and warn people that Ange was a decent manager and wasn't going to flop just because he was from up there. Still early days though, I don't think they have the squad depth yet.

To put it as simply as possible we defend as a 442 and transition to a 325 in attack. 1 of the reasons we usually build slowly is get everyone into that shape and see how the opposition cover it. Then we move the pieces until a gap appears  it's how most of the top sides are playing over the last 2-3 seasons, the differences are in how you get there.

This. Apart from if we win a ball in the middle third, we break urgently with 2 or 3 quick passes trying to bypass lines before opposition can transition into defensive shape. It’s simple but you need to be very well drilled to know where pass option s are likely to be.

They actually started last season pretty well, one loss in their first ten games.

I think our business is done. I think there will be clubs panic buying but we are thankfully not in that space. The idea we go from near relegation to having a top 6 side with every position covered in a few years is fanciful.

Unai’s comments yesterday seem to indicate we have offers on the table with a few who are probably hoping for something better but may end up coming because they can’t get what they want e.g. Felix

If Coutinho goes I think we may see one more in on loan to buy (a big wage player from somewhere like Barca - Torres/ Fati type). However if it doesn't happen we have the power to move in January, and maybe that woud actually be for the better. We have a few players to bed in, and plenty returning from injury betweeen now and January. Gives some space for some of the youngsters to get games in Europe too.

Yep, agree with all of that.  I get the impression that we've pretty much got the 'Coutinho out' part sorted with that Qatari team, so maybe it's just a case of playing a waiting game with one of our targets, and if they want to come then everything else will fall in to place.

I really think we need one or two. Things look good after some positive results, but we have lost two first teamers to season ending injuries, plus our first choice keeper has an injury (hopefully very short-term). It wouldn’t take much, a couple more injuries, and we really start to creak. Especially if we’re still looking to offload players, noting both Archer and Coutinho did feature in our first few games.

Agree. Just say one permanent signing and a one loan deal would do for now. You're right a couple more injuries, which is more likely given the amount of games, and it becomes a real issue with the lack of squad depth. Why risk a really promising position for the sake of a couple more signings?
