As someone ousted before, it’s unlikely the national team would be a big pull for a Basque.

Hard to know. Lopetegui, another top Basque manager, took the national job and must have felt it was the pinnacle til Real Madrid came calling.

I think that basically proves the point.

Forest have turned down £43mil plus add ons for Brennan Johnson from Brentford. I thought earlier in the window they'd said £40mil was the asking price. Seems they've changed their minds.

Not sure we need him now but that seems a lot of money.

Tough for Forest, though, to find their best players being fished for by the likes of Brentford.

I thought Spurs were in for him?

They've said they want £50m for him but it was thought that they would take £40m. Nothing more than a thought though. They might do a deal for £45m+add-ons.

I think we moved on and signed Zaniolo instead.

They might be, but Brentford have apparently been after him all summer.

That's a tough one, they'll take a hit to the pride with that one, the fact that Brentford even think they are as much of a jump up to be able to take their best players off them.

When we were supposedly interested it was Brentford that made a move, think it was 30 and then 35. They've come back in now with over 40, but Spurs are supposedly interested now too.

I suppose if the player has a preference for Spurs, and the club doesn't really want to sell, they may as well hold out for as much cash as possible.

I'm surprised we never went after Kieran Tierney from Arsenal. He's gone on loan to Real Sociedad.

Personally, I think, the only one that would really derail everything would be Unai getting pinched.

That’s already been text to me by multiple people today, all saying he’ll be off to manage Spain at the earliest opportunity.

Who are these people?

Supporters of other teams who don't like the idea of the Villa doing well.

Yup, fearful friends who support Liverpool and Man Utd.

He's only moving because he wants to play. And he's perfectly fine, but he's not going to get 35+ matches here either.

Johnson is a good player, would be a very good player under Emery I reckon. Sadly, I also think he'll kick on under Ange so I hope Spurs don't get him. Already think Spurs look very un spursy so far which is worrying.

Yes - I thought that too - I was thinking, how come Leicester and spurs can get managers from Scotland that arent chancers, but yet we get fooled

Purslow was in love wasn't he.

Iheanacho for £15m is a good signing for Wolves. He's be a very good Ollie reserve.

I've always thought Iheanacho is pretty shite.
