International management isn’t what it used to be, ie the pinnacle of a career.

It’s be far too slow for Emery, anyway, imagine him waiting months between matches.

Emery Vs Southgate?  It would be like kicking a puppy.

I think he'd literally die.

And even if he does want to do it, Spain change their manager so frequently that he'll get another five or six chances over the next couple of decades.

Next time it's available, he hardly needs to grab the chance, lest it never come again.

Also, taking a job with the Spanish FA right now is probably akin to taking a job with Russian military command or the Tory party, such are the prospects of a happy working environment.

Personally, I think, the only one that would really derail everything would be Unai getting pinched.

That’s already been text to me by multiple people today, all saying he’ll be off to manage Spain at the earliest opportunity.

Were these people Bluenoses by any chance? Genuinely, let's put our innate Brummie pessimism aside and enjoy the journey.

Indeed. He was quoted last month saying how much he loves the extra Euro games and is looking forward to playing on a Thursday and Sunday. More games the better.

As for somebody trying to take him away from Villa Park; not a chance. He's been given the keys to Villa Park, has been backed in EVERY single thing he wants, his own staff, his own executives, more money than he's ever been given for transfers, a club where the fans love him and as much Brylcreem as he can slap on his bonce. It doesn't get better than this and he knows it.

As someone ousted before, it’s unlikely the national team would be a big pull for a Basque.

Although if he did take over the Russian military command, he’d at least have a shorter injury list than he has here.

Didn’t put Lopetegui off, mind.

Hard to know. Lopetegui, another top Basque manager, took the national job and must have felt it was the pinnacle til Real Madrid came calling.

It'd certainly be bad news for Ukraine.

Forest have turned down £43mil plus add ons for Brennan Johnson from Brentford. I thought earlier in the window they'd said £40mil was the asking price. Seems they've changed their minds.

Not sure we need him now but that seems a lot of money.

Too right, this late in the window makes it hard to replace and Spurs are in the game too so they should play Levy at his own game…fair play to Forest
