Fati, Felix, Torres and Ezzalzouli all linked regularly. I'd suggest the first three wouldn't consider us.

The first two are both Mendes clients, so will probably be strongly advised on the best place for them.

If he can persuade Ruben Neves that joining Wolves in the Championship is a good idea, I reckon he can persuade Fati that Villa Park might be fun for a few years.

He doesn’t ‘persuade’ he traf….ermm he tells them where they are going

Completely. Diaby looks bloody awesome, but he's going to need a rest. Another versatile forward that can create the space his pace does is massively important.

Zaniolo looks like he's that player for me.

If Archer goes then we'd need someone else in, Fati, Torres, Chiesa, Felix have all bene linked and would all be good as cover for Watkins whilst also being able to replace Bailey, McGinn or Diaby in the team from the last 2.

Another right back would be good but given how set on loading us to attack with the left back Emery is I think Konsa and Chambers are viable options.

For the keeper I wonder if he sees Marschall as being close to stepping up so isn't worried about replacing Olsen, that would explain the extra keeper on the bench so often as well so he could make sure Marschall was firmly part of the squad if/when needed. Then there's sinisalo to come back next summer as well and he looks a very decent option as well.

Other than that I don't see many obvious gaps in the squad unless we have more outgoings. The injuries make things look worse than they are but everyone except Mings and Buendia should be fit after the international window and then the squad looks pretty full to me.

Archer is obviously a very talented young player but I'm not sure I'd describe him as particularly versatile. More "very good at the one thing that he's on the pitch to do".

Spoke about Digne not moving and being happy with his squad. I haven’t heard the rest of the press interview but Unai sounds in no rush to bring anyone else in?

If we were keen on moving Digne on then I'm surprised we weren't all over getting Tierney in. Surprised he is off to Sociedad on loan.

I think our squad is looking alright, its the injuries that have us a bit thin looking. Hopefully Ramsey and Moreno are back before too long, which definitely shores us up a bit.

6 to choose from the 9 of Ramsey, Luiz, McGinn, Kamara, Tielemans, Bailey, Diaby, Zoniolo, and Watkins

3 of them on the bench with Traoré, Duran, Dendocker, Coutinho, and possibly still Archer and/or Philogene.

It’s worth considering, in a parallel world we’d have been raided for Martinez and Luiz.

The fact that hasn’t happened means this window is a success in my opinion.
