lets leave left back as it is - no issues there.
Right back needs competition for Cash

He might not be Tony Daley pace, but Digne has never struck me as particularly slow.

Recovery pace maybe not amazing. But he can bomb down the line and get a cross in with a fair degree of zip.

I loved how Emery would switch left backs last season if it looked like Moreno was getting the run around. Digne certainly did a job. Why we are loaning him rather than selling I've no idea. He's still a very decent full back.

He could of course take a drop in wages and stay.

He's well within his rights to not take a drop in wages and stay.

From what I've read we'll still be paying a part of his wages at Nice. Or at least that's their plan.

As for recruitment, didn't we get rid of our Head of Global Recruitment and most of his team last year? It may be why we seem to be only shopping in Spain - Diaby was another 'known to Emery' from his time at PSG.

Bollocks to us paying him to play in Nice. Would rather stick than twist if that's the case.

I agree.

Selling him to some chumps in Saudi, yes, I can go with that. Wages off the bill, fee cashed. Lending him to Nice and still paying part of his wages, and he comes back here possibly at the end of the season? What's the point in that?

Bloody hell, I've just realised who this Alonso is, who's being talked about. If ever he was any good, it was a heck of a long time ago. Digne out, and him in, well that would be ridiculous.

If we were to bring in Foyth, I'd be ecstatic.

He must be vastly improved since he was at Spurs as he was dog shit there.

Fully agree.

We should never have to pay the wages of a loan player.

If the club who want to loan him cant afford the wages, then they should shop back down in their own budget level.

If they're older than 21/22 I agree, for the kids we should be ghappy to pay most of their wages and not have fees. Get ourselves a reputation in the lower leagues as a good club to loan players from and work with to develop them.

People keep banging on about Dignes ability. It's not about his ability. It's purely his wages. He is the highest paid player whilst Luiz is 13th highest paid. If you don't see a problem there you are facing the wrong direction.

From memory Alonso was very poor in a back 4 at Chelsea but very good as a wing back. Links to Acuna, Alonso etc just reflect muddled recruitment. If we are getting one of them then we might aswell stick with Digne. All around the same age. We need a younger competitor for Moreno..

Depends if you believe the links or not?

Don’t think it’s muddled recruitment at all…he is just getting his squad to where he wants it…players who can do what he wants them to do, don’t think age will come into it.

the age profile of the squad should be kept an eye on, otherwise we could end up in a situation like MON left us in. Age/potential should definitely come into it. If Emery doesn't rate the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Archer fair enough but logic would suggest giving them a proper chance first, especially if we get past Hibs and get lots of Euro games.

There is no logical reason for replacing Digne with Alonso or Acuna. Tavares I hope is lazy paper talk as he was beyond awful when with Arsenal. If you Digne on, you try to replace him with a younger version of Moreno.

We still have a joke backup keeper and no competition for our weakest defender, Cash, at RB. Priorities seem all over the place.

Does any one really think we are going to loan him out and subsidise his wages?

I don’t think anyone is blind to the wage point. No one is saying he cannot go, but we shouldn’t be paying the wages and we shouldn’t be getting a worse replacement in.

If you believe every bit of guess work nonsense we are being fed by social media idiots….let’s just see where we are when the window shuts

With you on the keeper though :-)
