Was there a reason Everton decided not to mark him?  It was weird, he was free every time.

I thought Digne was ok anyway but today he was excellent. You wouldn’t want him to go on the basis of that but I’d surmise that he doesn’t want to be second choice left back and with his high wages it’s probably in everyone’s best interests.

Word is he wanted to fight for his place. But it's us willing to get him off the books.

He's not exactly veteran/ perma injured status. So don't get the haste, personally. Particularly if we have to pay 40/50 per cent of his wages whilst he's at Nice.  And then he comes back next year anyway.

How are we better off with that, if we've had to fork out for a new LB + wages during that time.

So Philogene, Aaron Ramsey and Digne all off somewhere else, with our injury list too, we must have another three of four coming in I would have thought.

I made the point during the week that for someone who was second choice and being linked with a move away all summer, he was still really committed to the team in training and on the pitch. But it makes sense if he doesn't actually want to move.

Maybe 120k a week or whatever he's on is too much to be paying a player who, when Moreno is fit, might only play a handful of full games. But still, feels an odd one.

If we do those deals, and don't get a few in, we are nuts.

I can only assume its because they have another left back they really want.  I don't think its a reflection on Digne (who I thought was excellent today), rather a way of facilitating a transfer the club wants

Yes, it seems like for whatever reason Emery isn't a fan. The first/only thing he did in January was bring in a replacement for that position, and now it looks like he doesn't want him as backup either.

Presumably the left back they want is Acuňa and Digne going is dependent on him signing.

He obviously likes players who can get to the byeline, and are a bit more mobile.  I have been impressed with Digne under Unai - but clearly he isn't quite what he is looking for.

I agree.  Must be close with someone coming in, I hope.  I reckon we'll see three come in before the window closes.

Agreed, particularly the last one.
